Resident Evil 6 movie on the way
Release date for sixth entry in RE film series expected
The big-screen adaptations of the Resident Evil franchise have been some of the most financially successful video game movies, and the sixth entry is reportedly set for a September 2014 release.
Shock Till You Drop reports that Resident Evil 6 will likely arrive on 12 September next year, with Milla Jovovich reprising her role as series’ protagonist, Alice.
Paul W.S. Anderson (who is also Jovovich’s husband) will return to direct.
In an interview with Forbes, series producer Samuel Hadida has previously said that the sixth and seventh films are planned, with a possible reboot following those.
“It will go another one, another two, and then I’m sure it will be rebooted,” said Hadida. “Spider-Man did. Why not Resident Evil? You can come back to the original idea, the start of everything. You can take out characters. You can evolve. You can live with this world very easily. You know, characters were dead and they are still here.”
