A new Kickstarter campaign has launched and aims to rack-up $125,000 to create a documentary about the “queer side of gaming”.

The project, Gaming in Color, will document the LGBTQ community and presence within the video game industry and markets.

“The gaming world is far more diverse than the media would have you think,” says the Kickstarter campaign. “To counter this, we’ll be documenting the experiences of LGBT and women gamers / game developers to introduce perspectives you may not have seen before”.

The documentary will explore the good and bad side of “gaymers”, and if funded, will offer backers a number of perks, such as your name in the credits and an HD download of the movie.

The campaign is currently sitting on over $1,700 of its $125,000 goal with 41 days to go.

“Our time meeting with LGBT figures in the game world has exposed us to stories ranging from mild harassment to macabre horror stemming from heterosexism, misogyny, and the fear of difference. As a result, we recognize the certainty of obstacles ahead. But our story must be told,” concludes the Kickstarter page.
