Cat-and-mouse game extends to multiplayer

Watch Dogs multiplayer

While Watch Dogs has more eyes on it than just about any other game this year, not much has been known about the multiplayer, until now, as Ubisoft has given some details on the online component of the upcoming action game.

Ubisoft explained that Watch Dogs multiplayer borrows elements of Assassin’s Creed and Dark Souls’ multiplayer, to tie seamlessly into your an offline experience.

If you are free-roaming and connected to the internet (multiplayer isn’t available during main and side missions), other hackers can join your game. These hackers will look like Aiden Pierce to themselves, but will appear as a normal civilian through your eyes.

The hackers who infiltrate your game can hack your phone or attempt to kill you, so you’ll need to be vigilant.

You can watch for any suspicious activity, use a profiling and tracking app to find out where and who the hacker is, and then chase them down and kill them before they install a virus onto your device.

Its not known what the goal of hacking other players is, but it could be to acquire a points-based reward or something else.

Ubisoft is sure to detail more on them multiplayer in the coming months.
