South African Pokémon TCG National Championships a huge success
Pokémon fever returns to South Africa
Following the recent reintroduction of the Pokémon Trading Card Game by The Core Group (who also distributes Apple and Nintendo products), South Africa had its 2nd annual National Pokémon Trading Card Game Championships last weekend.
The event took place at the Brightwater Commons in Randburg where 86 players from across the country gathered to battle it out for the title of South Africa’s best Pokémon TCG player. With a ton of prizes to be won, including an invitation to represent South Africa at the 2013 Pokémon World Championships in Canada, emotions flew high throughout the event.
On Saturday, 15 June 2013 all players participated in a couple rounds of a Swiss-style tournament to determine the top players in each age division. These players, known as the Top Cut, returned on Sunday to battle it out further in a Single Elimination tournament

Junior Division (born in 2002 or later)
