Is the next Resident Evil game already in development?

Rumours of a seventh primary instalment into the Resident Evil series have been floating around since RE6 launched, and a former employee of a motion capture studio has seemingly leaked the information of RE7’s development.

Ex-costume designer at House of Moves, Karen Brakenridge said that she worked on “the video game Resident Evil 7”, designing costumes for the yet-to-be-announced horror sequel.

The listing has since been removed, but not before some internet sleuths could get a screen-grab.

Capcom was contacted, saying that the company “has made no official announcement regarding Resident Evil 7 [and] we have no comment to make regarding this.”

On a related note, in May, an artwork depicting the Resident Evil 7 logo appeared on the internet.

The origins of the artwork are unknown, but it was uploaded to Photobucket by Boxton, who claims to have knowledge that it’s for promotional purposes for the game.

The speculative artwork itself is a place-holder for the box art of the unannounced game. The image features a giant “7” in the font of the previous game, while the header also features the text “The War Ends Now”.

The image is rather dubious and could be put together by anyone with a smidgen of Photoshop skills.
