RollerCoaster Tycoon fans are angry. Since the recent announcement that Atari will be launching a mobile version of the franchise in 2014 – RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile – there has been a lot of negative comment online.

The YouTube video posted below is indicative of this, with 134 likes versus 4,871 dislikes at the time of publication.

Atari announced RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile on March 17 – available for  iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch – with a PC “experience” launching later in 2014.

On Reddit, Tisaric commented: “I’m almost hoping this flops so we see the end of RCT than it flourishing and Atari only tarnishing the name more than it already is.”

jwilphl posted: “Companies like Atari go for a cash-grab rather than making a real effort at production. The RCT name had so much goodwill going for it. A proper release would have done very well.”

On RollerCoaster Tycoon’s Facebook page Aaron Charron commented on the announcement of the mobile version. “Another great franchise destroyed by micro-transaction junk on phones that are so much more capable than that. If the PC version isn’t a full on game improving on RCT3, the way it should be, I won’t even look at it. As it stands, I’m not touching that mobile garbage with a 10 foot pole.”
