rAge NAG LAN tickets sell out in 4 hours
Computicket servers were hit with high loads in the early hours of this morning as gamers rushed to secure tickets for the NAG LAN at rAge 2011.
Gamers who eagerly awaited the release of rAge NAG LAN tickets at midnight last night were met with disappointment as the status of the tickets remained closed through to the early hours of this morning. They were left equally disappointed when the tickets sold out in just 4 hours.
Computicket website closed for business
The message that greeted eager gamers on the Computicket website was “This performance is not yet open for bookings”.
The rAge LAN group on Facebook was soon abuzz with puzzled gamers. “It’s 5min past 12 and I can’t book my ticket on Computicket,” posted one user, initiating a debate between rAge group members as to why ticket sales hadn’t opened as planned.
Users continued to refresh the Computicket website well into the early hours of the morning in the hope that tickets would go live, though by 1am it was clear this would not be the case.
“Yup , that’s it, I’m off to bed, enjoy the wait everyone else,” posted a frustrated rAge group member, as gamers slowly gave up.
Midnight issues
Computicket’s website experienced problems during Midnight and 1am on the 1st of August as users desperately tried to get through to the site.
This resulted in the Computicket mobile site disabling itself temporarily as the servers tried to deal with the load.
Users also reported errors while refreshing the main site’s page, though this only lasted around 40 minutes after which site operation returned to normal.
Tickets go live at 7:30am
Tickets for the LAN went live at 7:30am on the 1st of August, with a few patient users getting tickets as early as 7:33am. One user posted, “Hi guys, it’s [Computicket booking system] online and ready to buy,” which led to a flood of users trying to access the site.
This flood once again caused a few problems with web pages timing out, issues selecting the number of tickets for the event, and payment transactions being declined.
“GAH stupid 3d security thing is erroring out the whole time now I can’t get my ticket,” posted one disappointed user.
As users continued to struggle with the website, NAG staff member Cheryl Bassett posted on the rAge Facebook group’s wall, “Computicket seems to be having problems with their website. Try calling their booking line on 0861 915 8000.”
According to a Computicket call centre operator, tickets were available through the call centre as well as their website, though they were experiencing high ticket requests through both and added that tickets were selling out fast.
Sold out in 4 hours
With last year’s event selling out in 36 hours, the rush to get tickets can be understood. However, no one expected the tickets to sell out quite as fast as they did. It took just 4 hours for Computicket to sell 2240 NAG Lan tickets. That means 9.33 tickets were sold every minute since 7:30am.
While there are certainly many gamers who are disappointed at missing out on tickets to the Lan, those that managed to buy tickets in time couldn’t be happier. One user summed the feeling up perfectly as he commented, “All sold out in about 4 Hours. That is just incredible. I got mine though! Let the countdown begin!”
