Microsoft “sorry” about Games with Gold disappointment
Major Nelson hears the community cries
Microsoft’s new Games with Gold programme is underway, offering free games to Xbox Live Gold members, however, many gamers have felt underwhelmed with the titles on offer.
After the community expressed their dissatisfaction with the first two games, Fable 3 and Defense Grid: The Awakening, Microsoft’s community manager, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, was apologetic about the situation.
“Sorry about the disappointment. Not sure how people started to assume that H3 and AC2 were coming in July. I thought it was pretty clear in the briefing, but I guess not that clear,” Hryb said.
Hryb also explained that he will make the relevant department aware of the community’s disappointment. “I don’t work in marketing, but I am going to make them aware of this thread,” he said.
Major Nelson was also asked whether the Games with Gold would continue after Xbox One is launched, saying that “anything is possible,” and saying that “we’ll see how the program goes.”
Microsoft recently detailed its Games with Gold initiative, explaining that Xbox Live Gold members will receive a new free downloadable title on the 1st and 16th of every month.
“Each specially selected, fan-favourite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what,” noted Microsoft.
On the other side of the console network, PS Plus subscribers can currently get XCOM: Enemy Unknown, LittleBigPlanet Karting and the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection for “free” (until 3 July 2013).
On 3 July 2013, Battlefield 3, Payday: The Heist, Saints Row: The Third, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus and Unit 13 will enter the store and be available to PS Plus Members.
