  1. Quadcopter Part 3 - retest and reassess

    We tested the quad again after fitting the replacement ESC. Reprogrammed all the ESC's to sync properly with the controller, and gave it another test. Only to fly into a wall and break a rotor blade.

    One trip to the local shop, we returned with 4 x carbon fibre blades...and a new confidence in the strength of them. The price of them gives you that confidence.

  2. Quad-Rotor Helicopter Build Part 2

    So after the last wooden frame took a hit, we decided to look at a carbon fibre frame. They're a little more expensive, but totally worth it.

    This time there was no glue, no screws, no cutting. Just straight up bolt the thing together. Sturdy as a rock man!

    Here's the assembled frame with the controller and motors. We hadnt connected the other electronics at this stage

  3. Quad Rotor Helicopter Build Part 1

    So a mate and I have started building a quad rotor helicopter, with the view of putting a gopro on it and getting some rad video. In a bid to do something cool pretty much.
    We're both electronic engineers (BSc Eng) and although we work in that field, we don't do anything really cool with it. This was meant to change that.
