Mechanical keyboard buying help...

I know this is probably a stupid question, but what difference does mechanical make? I never used one so I really dont know why it's so special. Can anyone please explain?

Mechanical has a switch under every key. Different switch types are made. Of the switch types there are 2 categories. Linear and tactile. Linear has a smooth motion and tactile has a bump for feedback when the key is actuated. Mechanical keys have a spring and different points of actuation. The different types will be either linear or tactile with different actuation force and resistance. Also different feels. Most common are black and red linear switches. Blue and brown are tactile switches but blue makes a click noise.

Blue is best for typing and red for gaming.

Mate, you can't go wrong with any of the boards you've mentioned.
The Logitech G710+ is a fantastic keyboard, ergonomically its amazing...just not a fan of the actual look of the board.
The Corsair K70 is an amazing piece of kit, its incredibly well made, its fantastic to type on, the only downer really is the price.
Most of the coolermaster mech boards are great as well, they cost less than both Corsair and Logitech and they perform just as well.

At the end of the day stretch your budget to the max and buy the board you want, in this case I am sure its the K70. Even if it means saving a little bit longer.

It's for Christmas so I cannot save for it. Ive got R1200 and max budget is R1400. So going to get the logitech. What's the gigabyte aivia osmium like compared to logitech.

I had the osmium and it was a really decent board but its been around for a really long time.
Out of the 2 I would opt for the G710+.

Somehow this thread feels like a legit way of post spamming to be in the run for the 3 prizes tomorrow... Might be wrong. But who cares anyway, last I checked there were only 60 active users and the comp is for Top 75.

Wow. I could easily post spam with the questions and my my indecisiveness

I'm totally going for the logitech g710+ I think I've made up my mind. Will return if I don't like it and hope rebel tech will be accommodating and helpful

What are the 3 prizes may I ask.

After I got tapatalk it's made it so easy to talk on here.

As Hagan said, please consider editing your posts. No, don't consider, I urge you to. Your constant, individual posts (often right after one another) could be construed as spam and makes following the thread a bit difficult.

Ok thanks everyone for the help. im going to order the Logitech G710+. then will give my opinion on the keyboard. Wish you all luck in the future and to see you many more times on the forums.

Same here. Please just learn some forum etiquette and respect the rules of the [-]internet[/-] forum.

Seeing as you registered more than a year ago already, but amassed almost all of your ~50 posts in this thread alone, why not head over to the member introduction thread so people can get to know you? That's to say, if you haven't done so already. If you have, apologies form my side.

I havnt for reasons. I maybe should. Sorry I get a little to lazy to edit posts and just post. will try not too. (It kind of boosts post score but don't tell anyone hehehe;)

On that note I find it difficult to explain myself and so avoid describe yourself sections.

Don't be lazy. Your given reasons for why you're posting in rapid succession as apposed to editing can be seen as spamming, and that will have you disqualified from the competition (which is something you seem to want to enter into).
