Dying Light Opinions and Release Date

I really can't decide on this one. I did not enjoy Dead Island. Is this just going to be Dead Island with parkour?
It could be something really great..but.. I donno.. something is making me wary of it.
Also the new release date is January 27th.

Let the opinions commence!!

I hated Dead Island too, it was an unpolished mess imo. This looks more like Far Cry with zombies to me. I think it looks pretty awesome but I'll wait for reviews on this one.
 
The makers of dead island had a very good idea with it but the implementation was terrible, I would hope that these people saw all the mistakes that they made and improved on them to make a better game.. the game is still a little while off so there is still time to fix all that needs fixing. Also.. are there any newer gameplay videos other than the 15 min demos they releaseda while back?

PS. Shouldn't this be in general gaming?

I guess it could go in general but I didnt see the new release date announced anywhere..soo..

From the 15min video that was released some time ago, the game looks so awesome, making me want to play it right there and then. And therein lies the problem for me. Videos that make me feel like that about a game have a high rate of disappointing me.
Obviously the developers and publisher want the game to look as attractive and cool as possible, so they show you the cool and attractive things.

Unfortunately a 15min video does not show you if the game has a cool story, if the game-play will be repetitive, small environments, etc. So I think this game is a case of waiting for the release and looking at some reviews.

I think it's also time for a new game-play video or two.
 
A lot of hate for Dead Island... I thought it was awesome, finished it multiple times on both PS3 and PC. Even Riptide was awesome. Sure, it wasn't the most polished games and there was pretty much no story, but that didn't bother me in the least. The game was fun as hell (especially in co-op) and gameplay beats story any day of the week IMO. Looking forward to Dying Light, but I'm more excited for Dead Island 2.
 
I dunno hey. I could never get into Dead Island, maybe cos I never played it co-op.
I am however looking forward to Dying Light. For some reason it feels like an exclusive. But scavenge and prep during the day, fend off at night. New day comes then parkour party.... Uhn tis Uhn tis.
 
Im a pretty big fan of anything to do with the Zombie apocalypse... so count me EXCITED!!!

Everything iv seen re this game looks like its going to be amazing...
 
Definitely want this, but looks like my PC won't make the cut and the next PS4 game I buy is Bloodborne so this will have to wait a while.
 
I think it looks cool my only issue is the performance if it is locked 30 fps on ps4 then I will.be tempted but The order 1886 and Bloodbourne are around the corner and games aint cheap so serious decisions will have to be made.
 
YES MAN!!!!!

I am now getting suitably hyped for this game... Im nearly 50% done with The Last of Us (which i am now so sucked into its actually ridiculous, i think i might have a serious problem) so this should fill the gaping hole that im sure will be left in me once im done...
 
This looks and "feels" like a mix of so many games in one.

So far, it looks like a really interesting title.
 
You know, I've never been into the zombie genre games, but this is looking good. And I think if I get this, it will be my first zombie genre style game (if I'm not mistaken).

I just feel this genre has been bled dry, and so overdone.
