Okay so I've now figured out that they make mouses to game with. Totally ignorant here, but what makes it different from a standard mouse? I have no clue about master race things.

oh young Padawan, much to learn have you

behold it's magnificence!

Depends on what kind of games you play/ For RPG/MMORPG games you get mice with 10+ programmable buttons.
For FPS games you get mice that are sleek and comfortable with adjustable DPI

Hope this answers your question :)

Programmable buttons, I can understand that. I'm trying to figure why they cost like R300 more than a stock standard.

Congratz!! Looks nice! Still one of my favourite mice! Still have my G5! Try and put in all the heaviest weights that you can, feels like the movement is more accurate and controllable the heavier it is! But play around and check what works the best for you

LOL!

it's weight that you put in the mouse

and this is only R900

yeah I still have to figure that out. tried googling to get an idea of some common weight placements but there does not appear to be such a thing

Hahahah they are weights!!

A decent mouse makes the worlds difference if you play game competitively or just for fun online against other players.
The lasers are improved to sense the smallest movements and make it accurate to move. You get software on the mouse, allowing you save certain profiles with all of your certain buttons you programmed and your DPI setting. You can adjust the weight to suite your playing style. The materials a good mouse is made of makes a worlds difference to how long it lasts and how comfy it is!

I figured as much. Thanks for the explanation. So for those who've used these, what's the opinion on them?

So what was the misunderstanding you had? :3

well I was sitting with it last night, getting a feel for it when I noticed the scroll wheel just spins. you could get through all the Apple T's & C's with just one swipe of the wheel. which presented a problem for me cause there's no way I'm getting used to that. then I thought "well maybe it's broken, let me google this and find out if this is the way it's supposed to be". saw a couple of people complaining about the scroller so I schemed oh well now I'll just have to live with this :(

then I started wondering why the sensitivity button (just above the wheel) doesn't work either. and why is it such a heavy mechanical click....

so upon further inspection I discovered that the "sensitivity button" is actually a button that sets the scroll wheel to either free roll or notch roll (a term I just made up. patent pending.)

needless to say, I felt like a complete Malema at that stage

Hahaha, yeah I only know about that button because a friend of mine has this mouse. Quite a nifty feature if you ask me.
At least you learned something new :)

I have a Logitech mouse that does that. It's a very cool feature

I'm hoping my Fri13 yields positive results. Decided to get the whole dev team to cold-call, -mail, -text and -share what we do. We really really really need some contracts very very very soon. They hated each moment of it and said they'd rather be writing code, but what use is writing code if nobody knows about it or is willing to pay for it?

That's an excellent way to get developers to quit.
