Ok, so what brands should I be looking at?
Thanks for the feedback guys and sorry for all the noob questions. I've discovered that since leaving a computer firm and taking on a Network Admin role I'm kinda outta sync now with the latest and greatest.
So as you'd expect, this is kinda a lot of buck for me and would like it then to last at least 3 years and maybe even 5, and might push for it as I've had around 40h overtime this month.
Would a card like this depend on screen size and what would be suggested?
I have: 2x 19" Mecer (VGA/DVI) / 32" HD LCD HDMI / 46" FHD LED HDMI
Edit: Just looking through Amazon, and a lot of these are around $330 which is all sub R4k - is this something recommended?
okay, so given my current setup and reading the other thread Re: the GTX 970.
Do you think if I get this card, will it be hampered by the rest of my system:
- MSI B75A-G43 Gaming Mainboard
- Intel i5 3470
- 8GB memory
IE. will I be bottle-necking the card from it's full capabilities or am I better off going for a lesser card?

I doubt it. An i5 is pretty much all you need to in terms of gaming power (think Toms hardware had an aricle about it, where anything higher has little/no effect regardless of other components). 8gb RAM is pretty standard for a gaming rig so my opinion is you should be fine, no need to go upgrading any of those in any point in time.
Lets see if the master has a different opinion![]()
No bottle-necking on that setup bud.
What power supply are you running?
Cougar 750W Modular Gaming Power Supply

Is it advisable to overclock something like this, or is there even a point and what kinda headroom does it offer?
Hey Joker!
Just #curious but what is the difference between the standard Galax GTX 970 and the HoF edition. Obviously I can see the difference on paper/screen but I ask because I'm sure you've experienced the difference.
Another stupid question; what the hell do you do with the display ports?
I see the Galax GTX 970 HoF has three of them and only one HDMI.
Different types of monitors, if you want to run more than 1 monitor from a card ect.
