All Things Forza

I played 2 hours of Forza 6 yesterday and wow! It looks and feels great! Especially coming directly from Horizon 2. It just goes to show how arcady Horizon 2 is because suddenly handling a car in Forza 6 is a completely different experience.

Then I also played around with the assists and it looks like I'll be driving with the same assists as DieGrootHammer for now. I tried turning off some more assists but that's a bit too hardcore for me.

Are any of you using a steering wheel for the game?

DieGrootHammer - while playing last night I also noticed something that made me think about your "dirty" lap. Let's not forget that when you go off on the last corner or two, this will also mark the subsequent lat as dirty.

Hell no, there's no way I'm gonna fork out a few thousand for a compatible wheel. Also, I think Forza does a remarkable job of making use of the controllers feedback.

BeoTeK, that may have been the issue, but I had a look and even though I had three laps in a row that was clean, it still showed that exclamation mark. What I think it is, is as everyone had suggested, that I did the lap in free play. Once I went over the Rivals mode and did the lap there, all was well in the world, and I'm currently sitting pretty at 3rd for that track.

With that brings the end to the first weekly lap challenge. Well done to all that participated. I think the best way of doing this further is if we take a screenshot of the leaderboard to show everyone's position, seeing as most of the participants are now friends on Xbox Live.

So it seems platinumtemplar, aka diabolus has won. Congratulations dude. It's your honour to pick the next track and car class for the next challenge.

That would be fantastic as it seems I can't upload screenshots, and it would be better than a cell phone snap.

diabolus - I have added you as a friend.

Indeed. And then Rival will most probably be one of us here, which is in a way a multiplayer of some sorts, seeing as the multiplayer is not working currently. Plus Solitude is not gonna race alone now.

Multiplayer the solitude way. :)

That's great though. I look forward to joining you guys.

I can confirm, especially that Top Gear track which got that real tight corner right before the starting/end line . If you cut that corner, or take it too wide , the next lap is dirty..was quite annoying.

DieGrootHammer Oh right, heh, i'll need to be on my Xbox to see, but chances are it is going to be fast cars on a rainy track, so everyone can experience some maddening hydroplaning ;) .

EDIT: I was thinking Silverstone -> Rain -> Class A (or S1)

My word that would be a challenge. Well the moment you've had a look on the Xbox, let us know which Siverstone track and which of the classes. I'm quite bad in the rain, and Silverstone has some really inconvenient puddles that needs careful navigation. Will be a great challenge, though I think I won't do so good as in the previous one

I don't think any of us will do as good, i read Silverstone is one of the more challenging tracks in the rain, but also a great track to experience the rain+puddle dynamics. Also adding a fast car and you will slide right off the track into the barriers ;).

I will most likely not bargain on a good clean lap in my case :D

One of my favourite tracks in most racing games. The flow of the track is beautiful and nice to tune to, from the corners to the bumps and the smoothness. Able to bring very stiff suspension setups into the play. Will makes things interesting to say the least.,,,

Hell no. I'm just gonna try for A lap time, regardless of clean or not. That last part of the track with the fast left then right then left again turns are murder in the rain, as there are huge puddles to navigate. I had a race in the rain on Silverstone in one of the campaign races, and I had to do it over about 6 times just to get a finish. But I'm up for the challenge. Will be fun

I will have to see if I have to unlock the track and cars first. Not sure since I haven't tried rivals yet.

And DieGrootHammer, clean laps are always shown as higher up on the leaderboard so if you do a really crappy clean lap but you are the only one to do so then you'll win.

You don't have to unlock the track at all. All the tracks are available via Rivals mode, regardless of your level. The car, well you can either use one you've bought, buy and upgrade a different car, or do a lap in Free Play if you don't have or can't afford a good car of that class. Just bare in mind that your time will have a dirty marker next to it though.

And yeah I saw that the clean laps are always the top of the board. Will crawl around the track and post something just to end up high-ish.

Thanks, will try that out. Will also have to see how it goes with a fast car. Since I just started I'm used to a class D car. :)

It's going to be interesting! Especially with the rain.

Alrighty, so here it is:

Silverstone GP - Rain - Class S . It is a pretty long track, hence S-class seems like a good idea. See screenshot for exact details.

Some very infuriating puddles on this one, good luck ;-)

Wow you certainly didn't pick an easy race for someone who just starting with the game! Struggling like crazy just to get a clean lap, never mind set a good time!

Question: How do I view the rival's ghost car? I pick Rivals and then that class time thingy and select a rival and even though I can see the time I never see a ghost. Is there a different place where I can do that?

Yea, i think there is something funny with the ghosts. Even previous races, if i beat the first rival, then the next rival ghosts will not appear. I had to quit the race and restart to see the next rival ghost...maybe try that?

I also think the very first time you do the track, you also might not see a ghost, probably because it is behind you.

What a great challenge. Love driving Silverstone in the rain. It's certainly not easy though, but so much fun.

Here is my first attempt:

On the ghost car. The very first time you set a lap, you get placed against the slowest ghost car. Unfortunately it's a bit of a bug, but each Rival race you are only competing against one rival, hence why only one ghost car loads. When you quit the race and restart, the new ghost car will load.
