South African Rand coming to steam on 10 November

Nothing on my side either. Does anyone have money in their Steam wallets?

After all, all Valve said they were going to do was convert the money in your wallet - they didn't actually say the whole store would be in Rand from today.

I actually checked just before 8 and thought I should post it rather than try to remember! :D $2.63, since I did.. forget... :o

Something seems to be happening... PayPal (amongst others) is no longer available as a payment option for me at checkout.

(I'm sure it'll come back when the changeover is finished.)

From what I've seen the store prices are more readily changed.

It's done now.

Looks like a direct dollar to rand conversion.

EDIT: Nope. Not directly. But more than ($ X 14.27) - more like ($ X 15.14). And it's not nearly enough for 14% tax.

In fact everything (I looked at) is cheaper than direct Google conversion.

Edit: Also don't know if this is because of Steam update or if its gonna stay that way, but loads of games "buy option" disappeared. Example Maia, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Grey Goo, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Siege, some Lego titles and so on, most noticeable on my wishlist....

Updated the Steam midweek deal prices on my site and all of them are now cheaper in Rand :). GTA V was R573 last night when converted from the $. Now it's R394. Rocket League is also like R50 cheaper.

Damnit. Sure yes, games are a little cheaper but many of the games on my wishlist aren't purchasable anymore. :(

+1

As if it's not available to South africans.

Seems like I'm gonna have to make another account based in US like I did with PSN/Live

Some games really are a lot cheaper! As in over R100 which is awesome. I swear though I'm going to go to games that aren't available to buy and go to their discussion pages and ask that they can be bought again. Especially before the next big sale.

Okay, I started with the discussion posts and hope to get through them all by the weekend:

Not Available for Purchase

Hi there, last night Steam switched over to my local currency: South African Rand and now there's no buy option for Wolfenstein: The New Order. I'm very keen to get it during the December specials but will only be able to do so if it gets priced in Rand.

I hope it becomes available to us!

Well according to the MyBB article, some games haven't been priced in rohndts yet and that's why they're temporarily unavailable.

Yeah, says so right here.

Has the availability of games on Steam changed with this?
No changes have been made to the contents of your library. All of the languages and features in the games that existed when the store was priced in USD are still available. Most games previously available in USD are now priced in ZAR and are available for purchase in South Africa, but an occasional product may be missing until it is priced in ZAR.
