Image of the Day Mk II

I have this urge lately for a Windows 98 machine...blah nostalgia blah blah...I miss those days. No, not a Virtual Machine, but a physical machine...I'll probably set it up, play around for a week and forget about it, but still... :D

So, I searched my boxes and found my old Creative Labs Riva TNT 1 (PCI), also found my old AMD 1700 and mobo. Mobo says its supports 95, 98 en ME. Hope it installs and runs ok.

I'll see your TNT and raise you a 3DFX Voodoo

Which was replaced by probably the WORST GeForce card ever made... the MX440

Ah the MX440, that was my first graphics card. Back in those days I didn't know any better.

yeah neither did I. Or the guy that sold it to me apparently. Paid R1500 for that piece of shit. and back in 2002 that was a boat load of money, especially for a student!

Yup, they were, I got a Geforce Ti 4400 back then. Also found mine yesterday. The fans are a bit done, I have remove the grills that covered them as they were getting noisy.

Epic card to upgrade from a TNT 1 to a Geforce Ti 4400.

I remember my friend getting a Geforce Ti 4800 but he wasn't too impressed with it - not too long after he managed to get a Radeon 9800 from the states - now that was an amazing card, absolutely clobbered all that Nvidia had to offer even with their new FX 5000 series. He's been and ATI/AMD fan ever since.

Maybe we should start a thread about our old graphics cards rather than derail further?
