Gamma Nine - My debut novel - Cover concept and info.

Pre-orders will be going live in the coming week on most e-book retailers. I will link everyone to the pre-order once it is live. There will be no Amazon release at this time due to distribution issues and their KDP Select and Unlimited programs ripping off indie authors.
 
One final update before pre-order is made public. I am just waiting on concept art for the cover and then adding it to the pre-order. The novel, by Apple's estimates will be around 481 pages, probably more or less.

Special price on pre-order will be $2.99.

SYNOPSIS:

Historians warned humankind how its eventual destruction would be at the hands of its own kind, but no-one ever heeded their fictional warnings. Those wise men and women would ultimately be proven wrong as humankind’s kingdom expanded beyond its natural borders. None of them could have ever fathomed the horror that waited for us in the darkness between the stars. We, the dominant race in the universe, never stopped to think if we should be conquering the unknown, plundering everything in our path as we pushed further and further away from our home world. Our arrogance would be our undoing, our ignorance the weapon used to strike where we least expected it. Gamma Nine, the vessel of our doom, was the prison of an organism so hungry, so violent, that nothing could ever satisfy its insatiable appetite. In our arrogance we stumbled upon it, unwittingly allowing it to infect our bodies. It changed us, turning our own flesh against us. Nothing we possessed could stop the organism’s bloody advance through our star kingdom. We sacrificed millions to keep the monsters that lurked in the shadows away from our most precious possession - our future. We needed a new weapon to stand against the nightmare consuming us from within. We needed heroes to fight for our race’s survival. We needed Titans.

Gamma Nine climbed the TOP 50 Science Fiction and Fantasy genre within its first week on the Kobo store. Peaking at #1 in its main category and #7 in its secondary. It has fallen recently but only due to the popularity of other novels and its cover image reveal taking place after initial pre-order week.

Congrats again Spartan! Fantastic to see local authors getting their work out.

Will the SA iTunes store be getting the final release? Or are you limiting distribution to the US store. And I remember you saying something about not publishing to Amazon yet - does that still stand?

Thanks Greg! Currently it is up to Apple to decide if they distribute it to other stores upon release. Pre-orders are limited to US only unfortunately.

I will be distributing to Amazon just after initial release, same day or the day after. It is a separate platform and I need to redo everything once this distribution channel is done. But an Amazon release is now possible and it will be released there as well.

Will the book be available on Play Books (Google Store) in the future? I have bought all my books on there so would like to be able to buy this one on there as well :)
Unless the Kobo option gives you an epub file? Then I can plug that into Play Books.

Really like the cover. I looks like that horse head nebula but then you realise its a dude in a space suit!

When are we getting together to do the Audible version?!

Very nice! Well done. This is surely an accomplishment.

How long did it take to write?

I am busy with a screenplay and hope to enter next years competition. Well that is what I say every year and I never finish on time. It is much harder to write than I have imagined.
 
Cover looks good and storyline sounds as if it will be fun :)

Don't like the white on the top of the cover, makes the people look a bit cut out..

Thank you. Unfortunately Google Play books only allows books with a price tag of free to be uploaded from any territory. Things like novels need to be in countries they can wire royalties to directly and RSA is not one of them. But you can purchase it from most of the stores in most of the popular formats. Smashwords - the distributor - sells in all formats as soon as the book releases on their own store.

I will create a new topic when the novel releases with all the info and different links. Worst case scenario you can just ask me for a copy in the format you want if everything else fails.

Thanks buddy. I am very happy withe the cover. It catches the eye just right on the stores I think.

You will be able to change the format with Calibre - that is what I am going to do :D

Thank you so much. I am honored that you feel proud for my work. Comments like yours makes one even more motivated.
We can discuss an audiobook version as soon as the print project is up and running later this year. I think it might do well if there is some South African stank on it with some rolling Rs and brus!

Amazon release will be soon after or day of release. Like I mentioned because it is a separate platform formatting and things needs to be redone for the Kindle platform. I have set time aside for it once the manuscript is in for review before release. All things willing will see the releases coincide. And thank you :D.
