[MyGame] Grim Dawn

Just dinged 19 while clearing Depraved Sanctuary. The build is coming along nicely now especially with some lucky +fire dmg drops.

Good grief, at 27 I went in there and died non stop! :(

Im now 29 and in the ruins of Arkovian. I did die in there and called it a night, but still loving the game :D

Managed to get an hour in a night ago. Still not at all comfortable with things, but slaying a bunch of the undead and some weird bugs was a good bit of fun.

Have to work out how to change equipment and weapons and how to apply skill points and what to do with loot I find. That'll be today's focus for me hopefully.

I must say, going into this as a completely blind newbie to not only the game but the genre is very cool, and totally reinforces the idea behind [MyGame]. Other than keeping an eye on this thread for ideas I'm going to learn as I go. Turns out that it's a brilliant way to get excited and bring the "fun" level back into my gaming life. :)

Awesome, I'm glad to hear that GregRedd. This is one of my favourite genres and Grim Dawn does it really well. The way to enjoy it most is to anticipate awesome gear. Getting purple or higher items are what it's all about! It's like when your favourite rugby team scores a try.

Cool, what skills are you investing in?

I've got full Cadence which I use for my main attack and then I use Blitz as my secondary attack.

I did Markovians Advantage to Lvl 7

I'm using Forcewave fully leveled with Rending Force started on

I've also fully leveled Veterancy

As is my habit with these kinds of games, I rolled my first character, a Shaman, played until just before the Burrwitch Outskirts and then I got curious about what the other classes play like.

So I rolled a Demolitionist, which subsequently got a massive buff in the patch (woot!), played until Wightmire and now the itch is starting again...

Suddenly I remember why I never finished Titan Quest.

I'm working on a tank build so it can take quite beating but takes forever to kill something. It's only getting better now with some passive AOE buffs

aaaaaaaah makes sense, I have the power, need more energy regen tho, but I can kite and kill stuff now relatively fast.

hahaha.... my fuse is even shorter. I didn't even get out of Burial Hills before starting another character :p

Loooool Story of my life... but with this MyGame scenario I will be sticking with this char untill atleast my first playthrough is done.

We cleared it last night at 24, was rather harrowing, and there were a few moments
Spoiler: show
with the end-boss that "locks" you in with him hehe
where I held my breath and was very grateful I have turtle shell that procs :D

But we did it, so the HC motta continues!

We just killed Cronley, gotta say he went down ALOT faster than the warden. Warden felt like quite a tank :p

Also, we seem to clear out the MyGaming discord :(
Noone is on it, or if 1 person is, they leave within 30 seconds of us joining :p

Rolled an alt with a build mottamort suggested and it feels seriously op with the shaman swarm spell.

It basically goes something like this

I'm on level 33 now. I cleared the first couple of levels in Steps of Torment before the Skeleton Key door; unfortunately like a nab I clicked the door, forgetting that I get 1 key for the quest completion, so now I had to go in because I didn't want to waste a key.

Unfortunately this was quite late and I was really tired, so nearing the end I started getting hasty and I died :(
I was so hoping to clear it.

I got to level 20 last night. I was exceptionally lucky with the loot drops last night and my character became super powerful overnight.
Blazzok, this whole key thing that you speak of. If I get a key and use it on a door, does the door not stay open? Do you mean that I only get one chance to clear whatever is behind the door?

There are 2 dungeons in the game that, after reaching a certain level/area within the dungeon, require a Skeleton Key for you to open a locked door. Skeleton Keys have to be crafted and they break once you use them, meaning you can only use them once.

The Steps of Torment will be the first one you encounter, with the sealed door being on level 3. Once you enter the sealed doors, they will close behind you and lock. The only way out is to finish the dungeon or by dying; you cannot use rift gates beyond these doors.

If you die, the run is over. You will need another Skeleton Key to get past the doors again.

Fair Warning: You will get a quest to kill a boss on Level3 of Steps of Torment (before the locked door). The quest reward is 1 Skeleton Key as well as the Skeleton Key recipe. So if you complete the quest and accidentally click the locked door, bye-bye key.

This is what happened to me. Serves me right for gaming when tired.

Got up to level 22 about to go fight the warden.
Seems like I'm higher level than everyone else when I get to places they were at lower levels.
My character feels weak though.

Ah, that's interesting, thanks Blazzok.

Mmmm, that might be something to look out for. Are the enemies in there more difficult than the current area they're linked with? or did you just die due to tiredness. Might need to be extra careful when playing on proper-mode :D
