So nearing the completion date for the game, its been so long since the funding was done on this game. Atm, its set for Q1 2017.
The first is one on my most memorable games, just an incredible game.

I thouhgt I'd post some info and video's about the game. Rather than me typing or copying a large section of boring text, see the below two videos.

I played some of the Alpha and decided that I didn't want to spoil too much of the game for myself, so I stopped after two hours. I can't wait until the full release.

Also loved Torment, have been watching this, and (fortunately?) my expectations have been tempered.

(Planescape: Torment spoiler follows.)

Spoiler: show
The "What does one life matter?" theme here seems like a blunt attempt to recapture the magic of the original Torment. Too on-the-nose for my tastes. I mean it's right in the flaming trailer. "What can change the nature of a man?" is only one of the themes of Planescape: Torment, and it is fairly subtly handled.

Definitely getting it, but will mercifully not be playing it with the high hopes I had for Pillars of Eternity. Which wasn't bad, but expectation is the enemy of enjoyment.

Jan I believe it is still the same writer maybe it is a theme that resonates with him personally and not a blatant attempt to recapture the magic of the original. One can only hope. Getting nostalgic just thinking about it gaming as a whole has been lacking a good intelligent story for a long time.

I can remember there was a faction in Planescape Torment that only catered to sensations and feelings there was this woman you could speak to that only initiated intelligent conversations. That stuck by me it was pure amazing writing. That game was truly something else.

Unfortunately, it's not the same writer. Chris Avellone has contributed to the game story-wise, but he's not the primary writer/director. The new writer Colin McComb is a decent writer and creator in his own right, but as Jan suggested, the idea seems to be largely stenciled off of the original script.

That being said, the new Torment is largely intended to be a direct spiritual successor to the original Torment, where the only reason it isn't a direct sequel is that InXile couldn't use the Planescape IP.
Spoiler: show
I'd also argue that the "What can change the nature of a man?" theme of Planescape: Torment is the primary theme of the game, hence the prominence of the "What does one life matter?" theme in Tides of Numenera. However, they could have made it a bit more subtle.

Edited to add spoiler tags, though I'm not sure it's really a spoiler.

I stand corrected. If Colin McComb has even a modicum of the same writing prowess as the original games writer/writers. I will be more than happy.

I for one am very excited.

They have a really talented and enthusiastic group of people working on this project.

The game looks freaking great!

I will not get all hyped about the game, I will not get all hyped about the game....I will GET HYPED ABOUT THE GAME!! :D

Release date, finally!

We are extremely excited to announce that Torment: Tides of Numenera will be releasing February 28th, 2017! It has been a long journey, and without your help on Kickstarter it would never have happened. We could not be happier to be delivering a successor to the Torment name and legacy, and we look forward to you enjoying it early next year.

Is it worth buying the early access now, or wait for the full release at the end of the month?

Its getting very hard for me to wait.....

personally, I havent played alot, I dont want to beta test the game, I did back it, but not to play early versions or do bug testing. I will rather wait for the final product to be released and anjoy it. The magic in the game is the story, I dont mind joining beta's for multiplayer games, but not games with a story.

That is literally the reason I am trying to be patient. But it's getting hard!
Two weeks is starting to feel very long.
