Judging others as you would

Thread Killer Mk VIII
We've all heard the saying that you usually judge others by how you would do something. Like if you are dishonest you might think everyone else is too.

So I just realised I like strong tea. I usually make everyone else strong tea. Now when we make tea at work people want to share the tea bag. 5 seconds is good enough for some people while I let it go for 5 minutes.

Any weird bits you guys wish to share?

5 mins for Ceylon is way too much. Think the norm / as per packaging is generally 2?

On herbal teas you can do whatever you want - they're not sensitive

I didn't know tea speaks a specific language? I like my Ceylon tea though.
Probably a reference to English breakfast tea - a specific blend of tea. :p It's a mix of Ceylon and something else if memory serves.

I know of English Breakfast blend, but it's not commonly consumed in ZA. Your typical Five Roses or Lipton Yellow Label (my personal favourite) are all Ceylon teas.

For me, it stays in the cup until the cup is empty.

Is that how you would serve it to others?

You did not specify, it makes a difference to me: rooibos or english tea?

Either. 5 roses or rooibos.

They do mention 5 mins on the pack of 5 roses, I think.

Where does Earl Grey fit in?

Where does Earl Grey fit in?

Probably the same as English Breakfast blend, as it's Ceylon tea mixed with bergemot essence. There are many teas fused with fruit flavours, but Earl Grey is the most well known one. I honestly don't like the taste of it.

as for types of teas, I am impartial. for asian teas, and rooibos, the idea of drinking it with milk is sacrilegious, but for the english teas, milk and sugar eases the bitterness that they typically have.

So, no Honey bush tea drinkers here? I have a friend that has the Honey Bush growing wild on their Dairy farm. I get this by the bush from him. Tastes great, usually makes in old tea pot on the gas stove.

Tea? Why? Forgot to buy coffee?

LOL, never. I'm actually a coffee connoisseur. I drink a jug of coffee before brunch, every day and a few cups during the day. Tea drinking is for odd occasions.

I don't think czc intended for the thread to be about tea specifically, but rather about "judging others as you would" :)

I've never actually tried it. But I did hear of this one Czech dude who started selling it in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, he's rich now :(

Like that Japanese style? Stir 3 times anti-clockwise etc...?

as with my previous post,

I let it brew, undisturbed for a maximum of 10 minutes. I start to taste the paper afterwards (and it tastes gross). Unless you're using a tea infuser.

unlike coffee, that defuses at 90C, it's best to use freshly boiled water for this. do not prod the tea bag, as it will break the leaves, giving it a bitter taste
