Guitar player' thread

Tsar

The thing that should not be
So I started this thread because I derailed the last one. I basically picked up and played. My first song I learn was I ahte you(slayer's punk cover song) . My second song was seek and destroy by metallica. I wish I could afford a decent guitar.:D:(. I love dave murry and janick gears. Kerry king is also my fav. So tell us what was your first song and your fav guitars and guitarist's:D

I only got into metal after I'd been playing guitar for a year or so, so I was playing rubbish up until then. My first metal song on guitar must've been Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden, though. Or maybe Moonchild. It was ages ago. I can still play riffs and licks from pretty much any Maiden track between their debut and Fear of the Dark.

I've been playing for a bit over 17 years now, although I've been slacking for the last three since I quit my last band. I'm looking to start a new band with an old friend at the moment though, so I've been riffing again. It's kinda depressing how quickly you get out of shape, though. I'm not as fast and shreddy as I was. :(

Obviously I've owned loads of guitars over the years, of increasingly better quality. :P I started playing on some horrid old 3/4 nylon string thing, and my first electric didn't even have a brand name printed anywhere on it. These days, I've got a black and white Squier Stratocaster (fitted with a DiMarzio Fast Track humbucker on the bridge, with a coil tap), a black Epiphone SG, and a black Ibanez RG. For some reason, I've been playing the Squier a lot recently, even though the Ibanez has a much faster neck. I should buy new strings for my Ibanez, ahem. ;P

I have a Carlsbro GLX Special (a legendary little amp), and a BOSS ME-50 effects unit.

My dream axe would be a bright yellow Jackson Kelly with a glitter finish (OH SO 80S AND OBNOXIOUS), but since Jackson's never bothered issuing the Kelly in a lefty model, I'll die without one. I suppose I'll settle for a white Jackson Dinky or a Jackson King V, though.

I would love this guitar.

It's a pity you live in cp. Would have loved to jam Iron maiden with you. I remember in the beginning I played for 10 hours. My finger's were so sore.

I love jamming angel of death and war ensamble. God those songs make you fucking tired afterwards. That's what I love about Iron maiden it's not to bad for endurance. My first maiden song was Phantom of the opera.

Phantom was one of my first Maiden songs too, actually. I was playing it just last night. :P

I saw Anathema play it live at Bloodstock Open Air earlier this year, as it happens. I'm not really an Anathema fan, but they had Nick Barker (ex-Cradle of Filth / ex-Dimmu Borgir) come onstage to drum it, and it was pretty amazing. Best song in their otherwise pretty drab set.

I have never been to a live show before. My First solo I played (now then I have been playing guiter for 4 months) was paranoid

Soloing is mostly about confidence. I mean, there's obviously some bit of technical competence required, but the rest is confidence and knowing how to cover it up when you go wrong, haha. Learn how to play pinch harmonics for that. ;)

My guitar does not pick up pinched harmonics. I can play the entire kill em all album. And I never saw metallica when they came here:(

best days of my rock life.
so loud, they literally blew me away. they are even more osumâ„¢ in person than on there albums.
tru story

along with watching Muse, they are the best band i've ever watched live

I have to make a plan to visit my dad's family in england. I want to see maiden, Slayer and metallica.

I also just picked up a cheap acoustic and started, never been for a lesson in my life. The first song I learned to play was And the Great Cold Death of the Earth by Agalloch and then I just practiced a lot of random riffs from random metal songs. The most recent songs that I learned to play are Collision by As I Lay Dying and Daughter of the Moon by Insomnium.

I have been playing for about 4 and a half years now and I have an Ibanez RGR321 EX (my baby :D).

My dream guitars are the Jackson Kelly (with the pile of skulls http://www.dv247.com/guitars/jackson-ke3-kelly-electric-guitar-skulls--54505) and the Ibanez XPT700 (http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-XPT700)

Favourite guitarists are too many to list here but include Michael and Christopher Amott, Petri Lindroos, BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Chet Atkins, Alexi Laiho, Joe Satriani, etc., etc.
