Hi there

I would like to know if I should upgrade or not. My current specs

Intel q9450 @ 3.3GHz with zalman cnps9700
MSI p45-platinum
4GB DDR@ 1066MHz RAM
Lots of HDD and SSD as os drive
GTX280 1GB OC edition
Cooler master Storm Sniper
650TX Corsair PSU

I was thinking of going for the following

MSI P67A-GD65
4GB DDR3 1800mhz RAM
Keeping my GTX280
i7-2600k or i5-2500k

If my temps allow me I will be planning on overclocking my pc. Is there also mounting brackets I can buy for my CNPS9700 to fit on the sandy bridge?

While the i7 is like 900 more than the i5 do you guys think it's worth the extra money? So should I upgrade or not. Will my performance be really that much better. I'm playing black ops, Crysis2(soon), Shift2, Dirt3, etc.

Well my brother bought an i7 and the motherboard is all fine. They corrected the SATA port thing
Not yet....

But I would upgrade that GFX, its by far the limiting factor in your Current Setup. Especially if you want to play DX11 games in all their glory, or Crysis 2 on Very High (Hardcore?) @ FullHD :D

We've heard a lot of talk from the local retailers and according to them only the Gigabytes are fine at this stage
The MSI boards have been fixed , but have not shipped out yet

Well my brothers one have this b3 sticker. I'm buying from pinnacle and maybe you should go check again. My brothers motherboard has been fixed and did make double sure that it's the B3 version and it is. this is a quote from msi

To fix Intel’s 6 Series chipset design error, the SATA problems in its 6 Series chipset, MSI implements the latest Intel B3 Stepping 6 Series chipset on its P67/H67 mainboards for fixing SATA problems in the Intel Series 6 chipsets. Consumers can now identify the latest MSI P67/H67 mainboards equipped with the Intel B3 Stepping chipset with the MSI B3 Stepping Ready logo. This provides a more confident way to identify your next-generation P67/H67 mainboard.

check there they telling us about logo and thats what we see on box. So ours has been fix

Be that as it may, I would wait for official news from Intel first. I'm not saying the MSI boards aren't fixed or will give hassles, but I would proceed very cautiously if I were you. Working in distribution myself, we have not heard anything yet, so just be wary of getting caught with your pants down.

Dude, go buy the board then
No One said you can't, we did warn you though as Densweep has said, no official word from Intel means most people won't be buying them but you may be lucky.

Ok anyone else that think it will give me so much performance boost. And xerowing is just being stupid. of course it's fix. why wouldn't it be. If MSI saying it's fixed and we have the sticker why it's not fixed.

You sound the same as I do now with the gigabyte board. How can you be sure it's fixed on gigabyte boards. I think my proof is better and that's not my original question. I was just asking if it will giv eme R5K boost over the Q9450 system or if the R5K boost is not worth it. I want at least a R5K worth of boost before I upgrade. if a new GPU will give me more of a boost in games then I will upgrade that cause it's cheaper (R2500 for 560 Ti)

I see Asus, Gigbayte, etc is also using b3 stepping that's fixing the Bug

ok ok I regret for asking this stupid forum. you guys are 0% help to me

I see nothing wrong with the answers you got. People are only giving you advice. If you don't want to take it, that's your choice, but calling them unhelpful and stupid- that's just stupid.

Dude, I had the same issue with you a while back, you can call me whatever you like, if you ask for advice, be prepared to have someone give it to you
If you can't handle it, go post somewhere on a private blog or something, really, you're not looking for advice, you are looking for validation, which none of us can give you.
If you have already made your choice, which it seems you have, man up and stick to it

ok my point is Xerowing. You just want to fight with me about the Sandy bridge issue. I was asking if I will see a huge performance increase. I haven't made a decision yes. Still deciding if I should upgrade.

Yes, you're right ,that Motherboard is fixed. Didnt know they were available yet though. Anyway, change that GPU!

But I would upgrade that GFX, its by far the limiting factor in your Current Setup.... :D

Oh, and why a 560 Ti? HD6870 is cheaper, and faster. Or a 6950 (bit more expensive), which can be freely unlocked to a slightly slower version of 6970 if you're lucky.

With an attitude of "I know better than all of you put together", it really doesn't seem like we should answer anything...

Moving ontopic: I wouldn't buy it unless official word from Intel says it's fixed.
Work-around =/= Fix.

My opinion.
That is all.
Do whatever the sweet hell you want with it.

dude I don't care about the fix or not. Why is everyone not very helpful. I was just as asking if I will see a good performance increase or not regardless of the fix or not. I'm not saying I know better than you all. will I see a big performance increase or not????

My question is still not answered. Please people if someone is not answering my question in the next 1-3 quotes you can all just shove it up your ass and just go f*** yourself. I don't want to be mean but Xerowing are just not helping the case and so is Wheunis. When somebody asking me a IT question I Like to help him and if they can give me proof on black and white of any problems that has been fixed from let's say in my case MSI I believe them. If my SATA ports fail I return it cause that's what the warranty is for.

I know there is no official fix but at least it looks better than before. And people just don't go and say "what the hell go for it if I want to" thats a F***ing useless answer.

BIG thanks to X-games the only person to give me some real advice. I see on this link http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-560-ti-review/ the 560 is indeed better and it's the same price from dealer. I can get the MSI 6950 for under R3K
