RIFT : Planes of Telara

I haven't done too much ... just got some purple shards for killing world bosses. I LOVE the world boss thing much more than dungeons.

I got back onto my 1st char on overlook ... my lvl7 defiant rogue (ranger) and pushed him through to lvl17 over the weekend. Actually enjoying it. I'm yet to do Iron Tombs - although I did discover the entrance by accident. :o

Rift hunting and planar whoring is actually a heck of a lot of fun!
 
So has anyone got any cool drops from the world event yet? I really want the spectral horse :).

Nope, for most of Saturday there were hardly any Rift events in Scarwood. Yesterday though while questing in Moonshade there were quite a few, but I hardly got anything of value. I did get my hound pet though so there's that. :)

Man, I think I restarted my character 4 times last night trying to decide which calling and souls to go. I know the starting Guardian area like the back of my hand. >.<
 
Hotfix #13: 2:00am BST 5/3/11 - 53.4mb

GENERAL
* The intensity of Alsbeth’s assault on Telara is increasing! The number of rifts, invasions, and zone events is rising in all zones!
* Fixed a bug that was allowing some creative people to equip one more weapon than they had hands for. This was not an intentional advantage of being an Ascended.
* Removed Valmera mounts from the resourceful Defiant players who managed to purchase them. Don't worry, we refunded the cost, and hope you enjoyed them while they lasted!
* The Dye Vendors will be returning from their vacation with this update.
* Guild and PvP Quests: Killing the same character more than once will again give credit toward these quests.
* Quest: Harbinger of Sorrows: Modified quest text for better clarity.
* The Saga of the Endless: Trophies of Death: Quest now updates by closing Death Rifts.


COMBAT
* Warriors: Tempered Will, Paladin's Devotion, and Ruthless Pursuit can now only be used when the Warrior is under one of the effects these abilities remove.
* Tracking abilities no longer dismount you on use.

BEASTMASTER
* Protective Companion's Pounce taunt now properly causes the taunt target to switch to the pet.

ELEMENTALIST
* Icy Carapace: Rank 7 now lists the correct damage for this ability.

SABOTEUR
* Charge Booster: Reworded description for more clarity. Using Detonate with 5 Combo Points will fire off a Booster Charge, dealing 50% weapon damage. The total damage dealt is increased by 15% for every point spent in Saboteur above 21.

VINDICATOR [PvP]
* Tactical Strike: Fixed an issue causing this to trigger several times more often than it should. Now triggers 5% per point spent. Damage increase to target has been reduced from 10% to 5% per stack. Description updated to note that this stacks up to 5 times.

VOID KNIGHT
* Residual Absorption will no longer show as a buff that can be clicked on to remove.

WARLOCK
* Empowered Darkness: Ability will no longer get overwritten by weaker buffs.


DUNGEONS AND RAIDS
* A number of Greenscale belts were incorrectly equippable by all characters. They are now limited by class for equipping.
* King's Breach: Expert: Konstantin's Mathosian Fury can no longer be removed by player abilities. It also has a tooltip description!


CRAFTING
* Salvaging Rings and Necklaces that use gems in their recipes now returns salvaged gemstone items as well as regular gems.
* Crafted bow: The ability on Hawk's Talon was not triggering, and has been fixed.
* Crafted bow: Verdant Archbow's tooltip has been corrected so it properly lists the damage done.
* Relic-quality items should now be Salvageable and Runebreakable, although why you would want to break such lovely items remains a mystery. But you can, if you want to!

LIES! Spent almost an hour hunting a single death invasion, went to all the zones to find one. Wish they would fix the Stilmoor invasion bug, it is getting tedious.

Heh, at 9am in the morning i think you will be out of luck. I've definitely noticed more death rifts the last 2 days in the zones i am currently in [droughtlands / moonshade ] , from hotfix #12 . So i assume this means even more, can't wait to see a zone totally overrun.

Considering the length of this event , i suppose they will increase it slowly on a "every few days" basis. I don't think having a full blown invasion all the time of the kind where you can't even quest would have done any good. I do hope they set out 2 or so days for the event finale to be total chaos. It will be a nice "ramp up" .

How are you finding the end game so far? Seems a bit bleak to me, but I do have hope for improvement in later patches. PvP content for one.

Also, I have to feeling that I'm the worst Chloromancer ever. I'm finding myself particularly squishy.
 
How are you finding the end game so far? Seems a bit bleak to me, but I do have hope for improvement in later patches. PvP content for one.

I am not a PVPer at all, only PVE so I can only speak for that side of the game. At 50 you get to redo all the dungeons you did or not do during your levelling process, they are called expert versions of them. They are nothing like the originals though, layout and stories inside yes, bosses no. I am finding the boss fights very dynamic and dangerous. You progress by getting tokens from bosses (1 each on the easier dungeons) and 10 from doing one of those dungeons on a daily quest. The lowest purple item you can purchase costs 40 tokens.

Sounds familliar? Yeah, I am sure it does. As I said, doing the dungeons is an experience all on its own, people have to talk, strategise, swap roles to succeed, it is good fun.

Thankfully, this is not all there is to do or I would go insane. It can take a long time to get into a group and then usually the first boss breaks the group up, they are that hard. I hate daily quests, but the ones in Rift are fun to do, they alternate from day to day as well. Then there are Rifts. The rewards from events are also great for personal progression. If you can get 5 buddies at level 50 together then you can do expert rifts. This is a 5 man group rift that you initiate and do in the open world. Still have to do those.

For me, endgame is not bleak at all, it is rather fun. It all depends on your expectations. I am not expecting to raid, I don't even want to. I am not expecting even to complete a daily dungeon every day, I feel lucky to get past the first boss. I bought my first purple item using 40 tokens today and I felt happy ;-). It is a long term progression I can deal with.

To sum it up, I still have not felt the need to play an alt at all. It is a good feeling.
