PSN Registration Email

I got an email from PSN today about my "registration". The only problem is that I didn't register.

I have pasted below and x'd out my email address to which it was sent.

Initially I thought it may just be a phishing email, but the links are actually to the PSN site.

I wanted to report it, but in order to report it, they want me to register an account - no chance I'll do that.

So finally on to my question: Any idea of what else I can do to check what the story is/report this in some way?

Thanks!

Nope, my question was:
Any idea of what else I can do to check what the story is/report this in some way?"
because
I wanted to report it, but in order to report it, they want me to register an account - no chance I'll do that.

(Obviously there shouldn't be a need for me to add myself to a company database to report fraud on their systems.)

Sorry. My bad.

No, I don't know of any other way.

Why does being on SONY's database bother you? Anything to do with the recent security breach?

which breach exactly are you referring to? ;)

I guess there's that aspect, and then also just the fact that one should be able to email an address or call a call-centre and sort it out. Essentially they're asking people who have no connection to them, nor who are at all interested in their service, to sign up for their service in order to resolve a fraud query with one of their users.

I hope that made sense - still trying to stomach that final.

I understand what yo are getting at with registering thing... One make sure you are on the real sony websites and not just a cheap look alike, the option is to register on your PS3 and then from there reposrt the fault this way you know its your account and not some website that is trying to fruad you alternatively you can leave the message alone, since you are not registered and dont plan to there is no need to do anything.

Are the other details (aside from email address) actually your details, or are they random letters like in your post? It could be that someone's trying to get online without actually using their own details, and spoofed a gmail address, and it just happened to be yours. Or at least that's what it looks like to me

Yes those are random letters.. I thought that initially too - but my email address is 13 characters long (excluding @gmail.com) - helluva coincidence!

I would like to check it out, but either way, it's fraudulent and should be removed.

Before I reluctantly sign up for PSN in order to report this, does anyone else have any ideas/contact details?

(Doubt Ster Kinekor would be much help with this kind of query)

Wow, I can't find any contact details anywhere. probably to avoid being harassed by Anon or something. Ster Kinekor probably won't be much help, they're a distributor, but aren't anything to do with Sony itself.

You might want to look for contact details for SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe)

Ok, I dug through my old mail and found the mail I got when I actually did register with PSN, so the details should be correct
