The 6 Most Ominous Trends in Video Gaming

The problems with gaming go beyond the fact that every major blockbuster game coming in the next year seems to involve looking through glass sights at a terrorist or zombie. Here's what has me worried ...

Although I read Cracked mostly for a laugh (and there are plenty) they usually put some pretty solid research and thought into their articles. So this particular article was pretty good in my book - so you may want to give it a read :)

Sony came up next and announced a sequel, another sequel and then a reboot. After that it went sequel, sequel, special edition of a sequel, new FPS, sequel, new FPS, sequel, special edition of a sequel, new game based on an existing property (Star Trek), sequel, sequel and sequel. Then they introduced a new system (the PS Vita) and showed it off with four sequels.

Nintendo's list went: sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel and (hold on, let me double check here) a sequel. And you already know what those were, even if you haven't played a video game in 15 years: Mario Kart, Mario World, Luigi, Zelda, Kirby, etc. Then they showed off their new system (the Wii U) with a demo reel promising that some day it would allow us to play sequels like Arkham Asylum 2, Darksiders II and Ninja Gaiden 3.

So dam true only other game to come out to entertain us for a shortwhile was minecraft. And a few other Indie games.

Awesome find!

Great read; scary future for us gamers

Don't be daft, man! It's simply a little er... bump in the road. People will get bored of same old, same old and will foster another revolution in the gaming world... eventually... when they've exhausted the redundancy :p

*lol*

You hope Lycan. It's scary the amount of devotion people can have for tired old IPs (*cough* duke *cough*) :p

I see a future, 10 years from now, where there will be an announcement, and people will go ...

"OH MY GOD!!! IT'S MODERN WARFARE 54!!! POINT 3!!!" :D

And, oh man, will I shoot myself if I turn out to be right :p Or I'll subject myself to Japanese Visual Novels for eternity.

Gun sights. I miss the days of unreal tournament where you could hide the entire gun & most of the HUD. :(

At the very least the could make it block <25% of the damn screen.

Wow good article, it is quite true, especially concerning online play and the infinite payment. Not only monthly payments, but this DLC crap, I get so angry when I buy a R600 game only to find there are trophies for the DLC, so that means the developers meant not to release that with the game, so we end up paying R1000 or more for 1 game. Those are the ones bothering me most. Not one single game costs what it advertises.

Along with DLC, something that really pisses me off "Pre-order now! And you can recieve your free code For DLC EXTREME EPIC FUN ATTACHMENT!"

Why not just ship the game with the friggen DLC?

Its to give you more insensitive to pre-oder there game and not wait for reviews to see if any it's good or Bad
