Hi, I'm new to the site, and since joining, I think I've been unfairly judged by the site and it's members, I feel personally victimized. I will admit that I chose the name Hurdur on the basis of the troll that controlled the comments section, however, it seems that certain members on the forums have been holding a personal vendetta against me. Users such as Tpex and Graal. I really want to know what your beef is with me guys.

I write this as a sort of open letter to all of you have a problem with my "in your face" type comments and mistakenly read them as troll-type comments. I really feel it's unfair to be cast as a troll when all I am is straight forward.
 
It's a gaming fourm for goodness sake, you've made 15 posts.......how much abuse can 15 posts really generate!
 
Take a look at my reputation and you'll see. And guys like you giving it a negative one aren't helping my cause for redemption.
 
Your first post addressed to me is an attack, what did you expect? and judging by the posts afterwards I was not the only one who thought so.

Why all the drama?

We're a decent group of gamers on here. We've had disputes and some bad apples, but at the end of the day we all come here to hang out and share opinions. There is no alpha-geek here that you need to dethrone in order to be cool.

It's a new week, start over. I haven't even bothered to read your previous comments, so don't worry about it. You may have been a dick last week, other people may have been dicks to you last week. That was last week, let it go. Nobody cares.
 
Hurdur all I can say is just ignore the rep system for one, because it's not really taken all that seriously. Secondly just chill out, like Voicy said we're all decent gamers that have our equal disputes from time to time and hell even I've been taken on by a bunch of guys on here because of a sexuality argument that started up and I didn't let that get to me.

If you feel that you are finding yourself in a pickle with these two lads then just go off to another thread and wait for the heat to calm down. ;)
 
Well at least you know who your beef is with, I have someone with a grudge going around giving me bad rep and calling me names for saying things like it's impossible to get a 10ms ping to Europe. I would love to know who is it, not to get revenge or anything, just to say "Hey dude, what's the issue here.".

I find rep systems on other forums helpful and I'm sure it is here but when it starts being used as an anonymous way to send hateful pm's then something should be done.

Exactly, the rep thing can easily be used against you by someone who just simply doesn't like you for no apparent reason. Same thing with me, I too have received negative rep from someone who just dislikes me, no rational explanation. While it could be handy for giving something back to the person who has spent time putting together solid posts on the forums which are helpful and able to initiate a conversation, I think the anonymity factor is a hindrance. I don't see how it's fair that people should just be able to degrade ones reputation based on their silly and rather baseless viewpoint. Now reputation should be added or subtracted based on whether you were a dick or actually provided a decent post. In the former, sure, minus internet for you, in the latter, provide. But don't minus reputation because you hold a grudge against someone, or because they have flung criticism your way. All in all, provide and subtract rep to those who deserve it, not because of child-hood grudges that you may hold.

In your case Monk, I would say it is pretty impossible to receive 10ms to international servers. I barely get that on a local server. But this is beside the point and not worthy of engaging in pointless rep wars.

Happens to me all the time.

Hurdur, unfortunately, judging by your posts, I never really saw you here to do anything other than troll. Aside from that, were you really expecting people to react any different if you took a name that was being used on the site to troll and sour everyone else's day? If I see someone trolling as Hurdur in the comments, and then a member joins under the name within the same period that person is active, it's obvious that I'm going to connect the two. Especially seeing as you have also baited me in the Abuse of the News Comments thread before.

If your intention wasn't to troll, I apologize, but your posting history indicates differently to me. I don't have any type of grudge against you, your posts and history here just hasn't made me inclined to show anyb respect towards the things you have to say. And I know that's rich coming from the guy who started the entire Hurdur thing. And I don't see how me and Tpex are 'victimizing' you. Victimization would indicate that we go out of our way to belittle and annoy you, which I can assure you, I don't really have the time, nor desire to do.

If you really want to start being an active member of the community, though, just start actively contributing worthy posts on the forums. Look at my posting history, when I started out here, I also started out very shakily and made a bunch of enemies of unknown people. Just pick it up and go on.

As for the rep system, I'm all for having it removed. I've always held to the opinion that all a rep system on a forum does is promote e-penisry. The decision lies with the admin, though, and if they don't see any reason to remove it, it's their call.
 
I also can't shake the feeling that this thread might just be another attempt at trolling. I mean, look at his Biography on his About Me page on his profile. "A really misunderstood person." :/

Hurdur, if you are indeed sincere, my apologies, but until you actually prove otherwise, I'm not going to be able to really believe you when you say you're not trying to troll.
 
Sorry, but so far your reputation is kinda fitting judging from your posts. You attack other people ,then the next moment turn into a "victim", just to get response. Kinda makes me think trolling is your game...
 
He does have a point that it would be nice to see who the the rep comes from though. As for his bad rep, well I'm not going to read his posts now but I believe you have to get quite a few people giving you bad rep to go into the red. So there's probably a reason unfortunately.

Well I think you start with 0 or +1, so it only takes one person and you go into the red.
 
I think it would be nice to be able to dispute a bad rep, so maybe a moderator could review a bad rep point and remove it if it's unfair?
