5 bad sequels that happened to good games

Ah Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness. A game that disappointed me so much that I haven't had the same level of it since...

It was also sad to see the Tony Hawk franchise fall so far, so here's hoping the HD collection gives us some of that old school goodness. :)

Inevitably anything that is repeated too many times, trying in vain to recapture former glory, become bad. BioShock 2, Jurassic Park 3, Mummy 2 & 3.

Dragon Age 2 with it's Power Rangers/Disney animations and characters (Flemith).

I wouldn't call Dragon Age 2 a terrible sequel. It was disappointing to some fans, but nowadays you hear a lot of people saying they prefer it over Origins. As a sequel, it might have been somewhat disappointing, but if taken as a standalone game it was pretty decent.

Personally, I felt Origins was too tedious, boring and drawn out. I barely forced myself to finish the campaign, and almost stopped numerous times.

I havent played any of those games on the list...

Firstly i heard of rumours of Dino Crisis 3 back when Dino Crisis was popular, but never got the game. Was never into Devil May Cry, so not really a loss there for me & I am probably one of the very few people that actually didnt enjoy any of the Jak and Dexter series, played one mid way got into a car or something found it really horrible and left the game like that.

Tony Hawk was fun up until the 2nd one after that it was weird, and i don't think activision knew what they were doing at all.

And poor Lara Craft, I gave up hope on her games long before Angel of Darkness, I felt that they were loosing the plot on that game long before that... I am hoping the new reboot will be much better it already sparked my interest.

No Angel of darkness was bad in fact bad doesnt begin to describe how bad it was , the Chronicles was awesome
But I have to say that the Reboot and Underworld was good
The Re re boot looks like its going to be awesome , back to roots style just hope its not too realist , if it is then it will fail miserably

NFS the RUn a horrible sequel to Hot Pursuit (Die black box die)
Duke nukem forever - dare i say more
Gran turismo 5 - *Cough*
Fear 2

i think Bioshock 2 was the biggest letdown for me :-( Having LOVED bioshock 1, the sequel felt like a cheap and contrived money making gimmick

It was which is why Ken Livine, one of the big players in the original BioShock, distanced himself from the project. BioShock Infinite will be a true sequel.

Not really a sequel though. I gues to DN3D but IMO its a bad game before its a bad sequel.

The Lost Frontier wasn't PSP-only :wtf: I played it on PS2.
It was a pretty terrible PSP port though, graphics were horrible and story just as much.

The PS2 port came out a while after the PSP game, but you're correct - I lost interest the minute Jak X came out, though.

As far as I see it they were both released on the same date.

Doesn't matter though, it doesn't make them any better :p

I really liked Angel of Darkness. Maybe it was just fangirl-ism or that I was 15 and a bit unwise. But still, I played that game to death. Yes the controls were frustrating, but something like that isnt enough to make me say the game is utter crap. I loved running around the streets of Paris and those creepy labs.

I from the comments on Bioshock 2, I dont understand why many gamers dont like it or just hate it. I thought it was a really good game. And sequels arent there to give us game1.2. It's something new.
