At the end of the day I think HoN looks and feels good and from what I have seen from Dota 2 does not look that great
I always find this strange, and yeah it's purely subjective but to me HoN's visuals are muddy and over textured which leads to overcompensation with lighting effects and turning team fights into a clusterF of sparklies. DOTA2 on the other hand takes many clues from L4D by simplifying colours and textures, making them stand out more, creating stronger, more visually distinctive silhouettes.

Personal preference of course.

I wish I could argue or agree with you Monk but until I can get access and actually see how the game runs on my machine and not watch it on Twitch.tv then maybe my answer would change... But then again anything better than Dota graphics from Warcraft 3 will be a a win in my eyes! lol

Well considering ive played all 4 im gna have to go with dota 2

Reason being its easy on the eyes unlike hon where if you dont know wtf is going on you get lost really quickly.
LoL is more of a casual persons game, no denying etc
For me i just enjoy Dota 2 alot more i mean hell, look at my signature and thats time played since i got in the beta which was on sunday

Giving it to HoN, it has a lot more varied game-play and continually changes and tries new things. DOTA2's game-play has become stale and outdated to me for a few months already. I've come to realize the only fun thing about DotA was playing with Techies. There's just to many afkers, leavers in DOTA2, barely ever have a good game.

HoN's graphics is ok, just turn off post post processing. I hate it when bloom gets abused.

I'm going to be that guy and say LoL because I prefer it's game mechanics to Dota/Dota2. And just FYI, I have clocked up a lot of hours in Dota, having played religiously from 2004 to the end of 2006, so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about.

Hon isn't too bad but a lot of the people who still play locally are all very angry and need to go get some therapy.

Clearly you must have some decent experience playing LoL. What's your IGN? And chess is pretty simple to learn, does that make it a casual game?

Hon and LoL are great games but they are just copies of Dota.
When Dota 2 releases officially, both Hon and LoL will die within months of the release.

So 15 million+ people will just instantly drop one game and pick up another? That is unlikely to say the least. LoL is also not just a copy of DOTA, in fact it is quite different when you look at it in the context of the 'genre/subgenre'. HoN used to be almost identical to DOTA afaik then it diverged but I guess it's still the closest to DOTA out of all the moba style games.

There are more than enough differences to warrant someone choosing one over the other since DOTA2 is hardly just a direct 'upgrade' to either of those games.

You guys forgot one Blizzard Dota. And the improvements they were talking about make it the most interesting for me. DOTA 2 I would love to play. HON was and is spoiled by people that cheated(used hacks) and still lost. Now i would i won't play HON.

There's no map hacks in HoN. When they said that they planning on making the average game last 15 minutes in Blizzard DOTA I stopped caring immediately. Riot/Valve/S2Games got into the DOTA genre because they were passionate about it. Blizzard on the other hand has no idea what the genre is even about, they just wanna milk it in an attempt to keep people interested in SC2.

Whaaaaaaaaa.........

and what is the genre about exactly?

If you want it to be a genre and not just a subgenre that it is right now you have to embrace the fact that now every game isn't going to follow the exact same format and do the exact same things. Blizzard look like they've actually gone and thought about the various concepts in MOBAs and seen where they can change things to take the game in another direction. Just because they make changes you don't agree with doesn't mean they don't care or don't know what the genre is about it just means they want to offer a different experience than what's already available.

I'm quite excited for Blizzard DOTA to see if they can pull off the ideas they have talked about and prehaps make the game more bite-sized and user friendly.

Blizzard
"We've always felt DOTA has a very accessible, easy to approach fun game deep down inside that's just waiting to come out."

They aiming to make the ultimate quick fix zero depth "MOBA" with lots of cheese.
I prefer the ArtS/AoS team orientated direction with depth, lots of strategy that at least lasts a while. 15 minutes isn't even enough to get that feeling that your playing with people. Blizzard DOTA is gonna feel so un-personal. But hey, that's what they are aiming for right?

Not sure how you can say this since there is almost no info on the game, with everything still up in the air. 15mins was just a number they threw out there about what felt good, and when you look at it most maps in FPS games last around 15mins, even SC2 games the 'average' is probably around 15-30mins. Of course not every game is that long with some being super short and other being endurance games.

I just don't see how you can blast away at a game you haven't even touched. If you just want a remake of DOTA then you play DOTA/HoN/DOTA2 but for the people who want to see something different this might be interesting.

conclusion: Different strokes for different folks.

Or: You could combine ALL hero's of ALL of these games; scale items, attributes and skills accordingly so that hero's aren't too OP and have one or several different awesome terrain maps. This way, all MOBA players can play each other with the hero's they prefer and are used to, and everyone could just get along. YAY!

Dota ftw tho

They all have their Pro's and Con's. I like DotA simply because I'm comfortable playing it. I can buy items blindfolded because I know where everything is.
It's down to personal preference really.

Dota 2 wins hands down...having only played a little HoN and hours upon hours of Dota on twilight, Dota 2 kicks down! The reconnection and party play is what really wins it for me...
