Mass Effect 3 Thread

Decided to start from over again (with a female character obviously). Going to try to finish the game on a harder difficulty than normal, as I did the last time ... To give me a bit of a greater challenge.

I have a question about importing into Mass Effect 3: I want to start a new game of ME2 and Shepard will probably die in this save. I have completed ME2, but I'm missing two achievements, so I want to start a new game and get those. Can I still import the save where Shepard survives into ME3?

Don't you have any other saves? Like custom saves? And what about autosaves?

According to certain theories it was the only right choice.

I only chose it because I thought,<spoiler> "Control? Didn't I just kill TIM for trying that?", "Synthesis? I couldn't wrap my head around the consequences of that choice", "Destroy? My mission from the onset"</spoiler>.

So after the ending sequence I googled the other ending sequences, just to see how they were. Still content with destruction choice... Then I heard the term indoctrination theory thrown around, saw the vid and I was like :wtf:

I went with synthesis. Hey wait a second... wasn't there a Mass Effect 3 spoiler thread for posts like these?

I haven't finished it yet, so I have no idea what destory, synthesis or rap is. I'm playing multi to increase my readiness rating. Did anyone else have issues with bugs etc? I couldn't even finish some of the side quests. I'm gonna play it again after my first play through. Although I'm sure Diablo will prevent that for some time :P

Then we won't elaborate on that;). Could you be a bit more specific about the bugs?

i managed to finish it...

erm wtf happened? i got no clue what the hell happened in the end.

hell the only way this makes sense is if you've read the indoctrination theory...

That theory really got me thinking a lot, <spoiler>like how things kinda got a bit easy after being hit by harbinger's laser. In any case I'm cool with the ending (...in a sense), a bit mystified though. The theory makes you wonder, "what now?" if it is true</spoiler>

I was disappointed with the game as a whole. It felt more like just a war game rather than a space Opera, like you weren't exploring places like you did in 1 and 2 you were just going on missions and killing shit.

You know, I agree on this. It felt like Gears of War with a few interactive set-pieces in-between the fighting. The only place you could explore outside of missions was the Citadel.

I think I may have enjoyed the interactive nature of the suicide mission a bit more than I did the earth final push

Was just thinking the other day... with all the controversy that surrounded the ME3 ending, you think they'll make more games in the franchise?
Does all this (negative) publicity work in their favour or against them?
Would you go out and buy ME4 (or whatever they call it) if they made one?

Controversy or not, the franchise is brilliant(including 3). If history is anything to go by (COD), negative publicity (relatively speaking) does not necessarily mean that their future is bleak... On a side note, I'm cool with the endings, just a bit mystified about the last few minutes leading up to the endings

EDIT: to answer the question, yes, I would buy another game by Bioware.

I offer up the "Return of the Jedi Hypothesis"

New Hope - Good, ground breaking even.
Empire Strikes Back - Considered by Many to be the best is the series, dark, moody etc.
Return of the Jedi - worst received of the original trilogy, ending the saga, failed to really build on Empire.

This pastern holds true for most Trilogies.
Back to the Future 1 - Good, not great.
Back to the Future 2 - Better than 1, builds well on events of 1.
Back to the Future 3 - decent but weak final chapter.

Alien 1 - Good or Great film depending on who you ask.
Aliens (or Alien 2) - Great film, takes the character of Ripley to a new level becomes the film most remember when the Alien Quadrilogy is mentioned.
Alien 3 - Boring, bad, forgettable.
Alien 4 - Lets not talk about it...

The same holds true for Games, IMHO. Halo, Killzone, God of War, Assassin's Creed 2 Story Arch - 2 good, Brotherhood - ok, Revelation - tired, dated, a worthy end to Ezio's story but not the greatest title in the series.

Mass Effect is a brilliant case in point. 1 good, ground breaking. 2 Best in series the Empire of the Mass Effect series. 3, decent ending to the trilogy but was never going to make it out of the shadow of 2.

It is also why, IMO, there really shouldn't be more than 3 entries into a series, film or game. Most games/films start to really suck by the 4th entry and I don't know many/any films with a number higher than 5 that is still worth my money or time. Game are a little a head in this respect, a 4th or sometimes even a 5th can still be enjoyable but the fatigue can be felt, Call of Duty is a good example of this, IMO, COD4 is one of the best in the series, 5,6,7,8,9 have all have the trademarks of a diminishing experience.
