Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

Sorry Lycanthrope... did not mean to disgruntle you...

You didn't disgruntle me :)

You're not the first person to ask and you're unlikely to be the last. Point is, the reasons haven't changed and those reasons are unlikely to change any time soon.

ZA just isn't a viable location for international servers because ZA's gaming market is too small and most of Southern Africa (which would be the most likely to benefit from it) have bigger problems than latency in their video games (again, not profitable markets) :p

I didn't mean to seem disgruntled.

I got a good 3 hours in, started at about 9:15 GMT and finished just now after beating the skeleton king. My lvl 10 barbarian is awesome.

They have changed the difficulty ever so slightly since the beta, this was the first time ever I needed a potion before facing the skeleton king. Loving it, already wishing it was tomorrow 6pm so I can come home and play some more.

Started yesterday evening and had a blast! Did a co-op game with my old mates from school, havn't played together in literally years since they all live around the world now. The game is so much fun with 4 players.

Barbarian is up to level 16 and just arrived in Act II.

Happy smashing peeps :D

I'll add my voice to the chorus of disappointment. Really sloppy Blizzard - almost like something Activision would pull off.... hmmmm.

See how gw2 matches up when it goes live. Even trion buckled for at least 2 hours. I've yet to play an online mmog, mmorpg or whatever ever online game that doesn't have issues on it's maiden nights.

I couldn't agree more. People tend to forget that this happens with next to all online games and gamers LOVE to rage (see Francis' reaction?). I am sure there is a legitimate reason though. I mean, they ran a pretty long beta to test these kinds of things.

I helped out a friend witht he Skeleton King quest and when I was done I couldn't get back to my mission... had to restart the Broken Sword quest :/

I am of the same opinion, there are always server issues with online functionality. I think most people are jumping up and down on their soap box since alot of them feel they "told them so" regarding the always online requirement. 2 million people logged into the Open BETA and that broke the beta servers, we can only imagine Blizzard took that into account and then tried to make sure the other servers could handle this kind of surge, from that I would deduce that that between 3 - 6 Million (this is speculation as the numbers haven't been released yet.) tried logging in and this is what caused the server melt down. Blizzard then just got the EU servers up as the US servers went live, again massive surge made the US servers fall over & what did all the gamers do? CHanged region to EU, causing the EU servers to fall over yet again. Also considering how fast they managed to get it back up allowing a significant number of people to play.

As for the always on internet, Im not going to go into that again, I have in the past voiced my opinion (short version I dont mind it, yes even when I can't play the game i've waited along time for.)

Who takes 6 hours to finish this game? I have no sympathy for anyone who rushes through this game. I've played for 9 hours total and I'm not even done with act 1 yet.

Yeah dude, I dont understand this trend. Even the bit leading to the Skeleton king I took my sweet time again, exploring every corner to make sure I didn't miss something.

Same. I like to take in the scenery and listen to all the conversations and I clear every level of monsters. So yes I'm just over 8 hours in and also not finished with act 1.

With games like Diablo, I take the saying "No stone un-turned" quite literally :)

I check the map to make sure there are 0 dark spots :)

Same, low level I also pick up everything and sell it. There are so many awesome little touches that rushing past should feel like a crime or an insult to the artists.

Well hopefully today the games works like it should, it's so far been rather unpleasant.

Sure it will be fine (or better) tonight. Managed to get an hour in before it all went to hell. A lot of my buddies say it was cool late last night - unfortunately I can't play till the crack of dawn.
Awesome game regardless.

At least you guys can play . .somewhat.

I don't have the game yet since I have 2 semester tests this week plus a big assignment for Wednesday :'(

So I will only get Diablo 3 at the end of this month.
