Gamers rejoice! ADSL speed upgrades are upon us

Ah what awesomeness.... finally... I hope I get mine sooner than later... 2Mb here we GO!

EDIT: ohwait... Telkom apparently firmly believes I'm on 384k.... :/ speedtest.net says 1Mb...
Why would I be on 384k if I asked for 1Mb and actually got it last year August? And if they believe I'm on 384k that means I'll stay on 1Mb when the upgrade happens? Time to sor this out before the time.

We take all the scraps we can get down here in the wilderness. :)

I'm looking forward to the 1mb to 2mb bump. :D

Indeed.

Just to be well, me, here is Speedtest results for my office connection.

Unfortunately my home line isn't there quiet yet....

I am not looking forward to the bump to 2MB, as this will double my ISP cost...

I am going to downgrade to 1MB, as this will keep the pricing the same. (So many people still think that their total cost for 2mb will be the same as for 1mb, this is not the case btw...)

I'm more than willing to spend a little more for double the speed. :)

Only the data account will cost more. The 2mb line won't cost you extra. My suggestion? Keep the 2mb line. All line speeds have a certain overhead usage, meaning you don't get 100% full speed for what your line is capable of. If you use a 2mb line with a 1mb account, you will be able to max your account speed, even if it is only an extra 10 or 20kb/s.

No changes for me. I'm on a 4Mb/s line. Although I think I got bumped up to one of the 10Mb/s DSLAM's a while back because I see I sync at about 6Mb/s. Sadly, I rarely get download speeds over 3Mb/s

I am thinking of downgrading my 4MB line to 2MB and once my exchange becomes 10MB compliant then bump it up again.

Us lower-end broadband guys (384 and 1mb/s) are really getting shafted. I mean, I pay R258 for my 384 uncapped account, and the guys on 4mb accounts pay about R500 - R700 for their accounts. That's two to three times more for more than ten times the speed.
