The Build Begins

So I just placed an order for the following:

AMD Vishera FX-8320B Octo Core
Asus M5A97
16GB DDR3-1600
Coolermaster 500W Thunder
Coolermaster Elite 311

I'm going to pop in my current Radeon HD6780 and hopefully I'll have some pics up later today.

This PC has been 6 months in the making and I cannot wait to put it together.

Can't wait for pics. My own build begins on Tuesday (Rebeltech Permitting) so it will be interesting to see everybody's Christmas builds.

Well it's AMD CPU so the pc sucks. sorry for trolling but Intel will always be better and you all know it

That must have been a pointless affair, like debating the usefulness of oxygen to the human race
:)

Actually is was a conversation about why it's bad that AMD CPU's aren't competitive any more and is not any good for the industry. You know, constructive talk, not that fanboy bullcrap. :)

As for saying is sucks simply because its an AMD CPU, that's a rather stupid comment since my Phenom II 965 is still serving me well in 90% of the games I play, with the one exception being Planetside 2. That being said I am looking at an i5 3570k as an upgrade. :P

Not trying to start a fanboy argument but if both brands cost R1 a CPU how many people here would go for Intel or AMD. By removing the advantage of AMD's better pricing what else is left?
They're great for gaming and so on and I won't take that away but I'm fairly certain a price match would cause a huge fence crossing.

Im laughing quite hard at you guys...lol

How many of you have actually used a FX8350? I have used one a lot, and it is an absolutely amazing chip.
Its great for gaming, Its great for multi tasking, Its great for overclocking.

Also lets look at the future, AMD took a different route and sure it started off bumpy, but by the looks of things now Steam roller will be 20-30% faster than Piledriver and Excavator will be 20% + faster than Steam roller. Do the math...and you'll see what I mean.

Problem is that the FX8350 is priced around the same as the faster i5 3570k, so weirdly Intel has the best bang for buck.

That said, I might just wait for the new AMD chips because I still want competition in the hardware market. I'd avoid buying an Intel CPU if I could help it.

When is Steam Roller due? I'd wait another 6 months for an upgrade.

Only in shit countries like SA.
In Europe for instance the FX8350 is a good 60 - 100 Euros less than the the 3570k.

Steam roller will only be out in 2014, there will be a revision of the FX8350 in the next few weeks, less power consumption (95w) which means it'll run cooler as well.
