A lot of my friends play it and I've got the full client here on my disk. Often I've been tempted to play it. But... I still prefer single player games and I just can't get myself to play an MMO. Will try out Star Trek Online when it comes out though.

Eve Online looks awesome if people want to try it out.

Space Spreadsheets, I mean Eve lookes like one of those games that you either love or hate. Haven't seen anyone playing it so I can't really say If I'll like it or not. In some ways it does sound like a RPGamers wet dream. Though from what I hear it starts taking up huge amounts of time.
What is PvP like? Is it like some hardcore version of Star Control (loved that game)

I might boot it up once my cap has been refilled to see how it is. But i have the same issues as HANDsolo. No time, ive been neglecting MW online long enough.

Played it for about 6 months and just couldn't get into it...

The learning curve in terms of sheer information overload is pretty steep, but manageable if one is not too lazy to read.

What killed it for me is how Skills train - in real-time. You have NO ability to speed it up by your in-game actions. All you can do is train some more skills that reduce skill training time, and that alone will take weeks of real-time to train.

So expect the first month or so to just be training Learning Skills (again I stress, IN REAL TIME), before you can even start to get at the real meat of this game.

Its a great game for people who love the setting, and how your character progression happens, but as konbshine mentioned - You either love it, or hate it.

If it helps,

The New Experience patch, allows new players a chance to 'catch up'

You start with 200,000 sp now, and until you hit 1,6mil sp you have double training speed ;) And you can queue skills

The tutorial was revamped, and easier to understand

Money does become an issue :p

Tech 1 skills cost 5,000 ISK - 800,000 ISK, the tech 2 (or Advanced skills) cost 3mil for the basic 1s

Yeah thats why you do other odd jobs to get the money flowing. How is the life of a freighter pilot?

Lots of money involved, more money involved when there are risks taken ;) Running repeatable Level 1 mission's I rack in 4-7mil looting the wrecks and salvaging them

The higher the level, the harder it is, and the more money you make... A friend was running level 1 missions in 0.3 space... just the cash reward for 1 was 5mil

If i decide to sigh up ill give you a shout, hopefully you will have internet at home again and we will try it out.

Yeah, I hooked a couple friends in when I started a few months back, got a call on tuesday from another friend saying hes starting up :p

Strength in Numbers. Well equipped crew. I Freighter carrying the goods 2 or 4 people handling protection, even sacrificing them selfs if needed. Thats the way to make money.

Heres a fleet of battleships, carriers, cruisers...

And heres a size comparison

This particular one is the Caldari Leviathan, which - [according to] in-game specs actually makes it the single largest ship in the game. Next to it is a fleet of about 80 battleships and other assorted smaller ships. I'd also note that my current ship wouldn't even be the size of a grain of sand in this picture

Dude im talking small time untill you get on your feet. What i always though was id create a company (guild) of freelancers, mercenaries, and work for the highest bidder. I bet there are millions of companies like this in game already.

(big image, I won't tag it here)

That shows the current player controlled space by various corps... there are 5000 explored systems (all the dots)

Hey I could go find my own system. Coool!

What do you think of mah business plan? I dont want to run the universe i just want to make a few bucks while having fun.
