So Im playing PVZ2 on my tablet and am amazed by the prices of in app purchases. EA must be smoking something-
5,000 coins is R36,16
10,000 coins is R60,35 - you can do about 6 powerups for the price of most decent android games.
100,000 coins is R362,79 - this is the what you will pay for a lot of AAA titles released on PC
Snow pea is R48,26
To get an extra 25 sun at startup is R48,26
etc etc.

I cant imagine too many people will pay these kinds of prices, but I'm seeing it more and more so there must be someone out there. or a lot of someones!
I don't know, but in my head I'm thinking they would make a lot more money if they charge a lot less for this stuff, and sell to a lot more people.

Still have to get the game myself so I'll have to see when I do, but if these "upgrades" are required to actually finish the game then I'll be very upset......

As far as I know you can finish the game without it. It's just for those people who want to take an easier route. You can buy weapon upgrades much earlier in the game, or you can just wait and get them throughout the course of the game. The coins allow you to buy single-use powerups- like a lightning zapper that fries almost all the zombies on stage, but it costs about 1000 coins at a time, so you will need to play a few stages to get a single power up. That said it's not exactly Darksouls- the game is a little too easy as is, so would you really need that anyway?

Something that is quite annoying is that the store window pops up midway through a game sometimes with items conveniently placed right under your fingertips. Its only happened once after about 10 stages fortunately.

Well that's okay then. How are you finding the difficulty? Same as PvZ1?

That is why I have such an issue with in-app purchases in free to play games. They ask crazy prices for stuff and these prices are almost as much as the game would have cost originally. If they sold the game it would have been max R69. They are greedy for asking these prices for ingame purchases.

EA is joke!

So far its about the same- perhaps a little harder. They've introduced a fertilizer system that gives your plants a boost. The pea shooter sprays out bullets like a machine gun and can take out one of those bucket zombies in seconds. As a result you get rushed a lot more towards the end, but the whole thing balances out. I still would love to have a Hard mode.
So far Im enjoying the additions- it's a worthy sequel.

even at 30x the price of PVZ 1, it would sell for R45, and they would make a fortune. It seems like they are targeting those people who get caught up in the moment, and then end up with buyers remorse. It's never good when your audience ends up feeling sick to their stomachs at the end of a month of indulging. This Freemium bubble is going to burst eventually.

Don't know how far you have played it I'm finished on Egypt normal stars busy doing all the missions on 3 stars atm and some of it gets real hectic. and on the pyramid challenge I'm up to lvl 8.

Haven't bought anything but for some of the challenges you either have to come back later or buy currency to progress it's a bit annoying that some of the things are so expensive

I'm only a few stages in. Glad to hear it gets harder. EA thinks that will motivate you shell out some cash- No, it just makes it sweeter when you finally come back and nail that sucker. Then again I don't think we're their target market.

I Agree to an extent. Free games also give you a chance to try the game without paying anything!! But Developers seem to be taking advantage of us now!

You're right, it is more challenging, especially when you try get the stars and have to do things like survive without losing more than 2 plants etc.

Very true. You will get those moms and kiddies that play the game and don't really think about the cost cause it goes off of dad/hubby's credit card. They see it as their entertainment allowance so they don't worry about the R150 spend each month. So unfortunately publishers like EA will rake in the mula because of the ignorance of the plebs. They are not targeting the core gaming community cause they know that we know that they know that they are BS'ing the populous. :-)

Glad your starting to enjoy the harder levels now :) but some of them are a real pain hahahahaha

Lol yeah. I think this scumbaggery is aimed at kids. The thing pops up and the kid just goes on playing not really realizing what they've done. It's a strategy used by lots of games/apps. The pop ups appear at the time when they'd be most convenient.

I played the pyramid stage and man that thing gets brutal. especially with those dudes that barf up gravestones. In the end every open square has one on, making it impossible to shoot anyone with anything other than weak weapons.

I wanted to ask- how the heck do you get more keys to unlock other stages? I've collected 3 stars on about 6 stages and haven't found any keys on them. The only place I got a key was on the pyramid stage. Do I have to keep playing that?

I found the shop window doesn't just pop up by itself, but the sun very often conveniently positions itself just under the store button, leading to you click it by accident at least once per stage. when the sun is there you cannot collect it either until it moves. Sneaky sneaky.

I actually have about 8 keys and from my experience it's just random drops just play some of the stages over again

I finished the game with zero IAP or super power thingies. Some stages have crazy difficulty spikes later on to try nudge you towards purchasing, but it's nothing a few strategies remixes can't fix.

I hear the the bigfoot thing that appears once a day drops up to 3 keys, but so far I've only found gems

Did you play one of those dancing zombie stages back at the house. Man those things are impossible unless you use the powerups. Fortunately you don't need to buy powerups, but they do cost game coins. That brings me to another question- do you need coins for anything else in the game? In PVZ 1 you could save up to buy plants etc, but it looks like dave's store doesn't exist in 2, so are the coins you pick up in the game only useful for using powerups?

I wouldn't even pay anything for a game and most games can be completed without upgrades/bonuses so no need to buy anything.
