Gauteng (Brazil) - High Diamonds
Limpopo - High Diamonds
Northern Cape (Indo) - High Diamonds

South Africa has always been popular for its high diamonds regions and this actually became a problem before we were taken over. A lot of foreign investors took advantage of our cheap taxes and started up diamond exporting businesses in South Africa. This lead to a huge spike in wages since their was such a demand for land workers but a very limited supply. It also forced our government to raise export taxes as it was hurting the local producers.
This was also a primary reason why Brazil and Indo wanted to secure our regions and also why they're reluctant to now give them back.

When the regions were take over, our enemies played with our regions a bit, raised all taxes to absurd levels, increased minimum wage to an unaffordable amount forcing all companies in South Africa to seize operations. This had its affect on the ZAR causing the ZAR to plummet. It's slowly rising up again but it will take a few economic monetary policies and programs to get it stable at a rate similar to what it previously was.

Limpopo was also the region given back to us by Brazil from our negotiations with them.
 
Mebe cause they screwed it over so badly, it was unsalvageble(spelling) in the end with everyone closing up shop etc.

There have been a few resistance wars over the past few months but none of them have really been official and fought by resistance forces. We simply cannot beat Brazil or Indo in physical combat as they outnumber us in citizens, physical strength and allies willing to fight for them. PEACE (an alliance consisting of many countries but predominantly run by Indo), is crushing through US now and they have fewer allies fighting for them than the US. They have a infinite gold supply so they are able to tank (very high strength soldiers fight multiple times using wellness packs and Q5 weapons) more than any other country.
This is why we chose a diplomatic solution and why Ines Schumacher, our resistance leader and president, handled negotiations with Brazil. I will see if I can find a link to the original contracted signed by South Africa and Brazil. I don't remember the exact terms but we gave them quite a lot of gold, a MPP and the commitment to purchase another region soon, in exchange for Limpopo.
 
Yea I've been looking @ the news on eRepublik. They've been crushing the USA lately, but how fun is a game when it's so very 1sided :/

Sounds like selling out to me ..... why didn't they bide their time and organise a massively strong resistance .......

We are just too outnumbered. Take florida for example. Over 5000 ppl in that state alone. How many eSA ppl are there atm? 100? 200?

Resistance wars are different to normal wars where by your soldiers have to be in that region to attack it or defend it. We simply don't have enough players to beat them and they outnumber us heavily. We also can't afford to ship our allies to the region to fight for us and at the same time, our allies are fighting their own battles and concentrating their fights elsewhere. A lot of people share your idea that we copped out but we didn't really have any other options.
