i have done lots of investigations here and the best option is something like this :

http://store.linksys.com/powerline/...productId148393444VVcatId554690VVviewprod.htm

The normal range extenders apaprently lose signal exponentially over distance. But the POWERLINE setup uses exisitng electrical infrastructure and gives the best boost.

Used to use one yes, a "cheap" netgear one in the region of R700. Has 4 RJ45 ports as well which is nice. Worked decent but for streaming wifi still sucks. Upgraded a few months ago to something a bit more lavish, an Asus RT-AC66U router which can function as an access point. Connected that via Ethernet to my main ADSL router, and works like a charm. Wifi is much better on this one, but I still occasionally get sluggish streaming. But for downloads, online play and file transfer it works quite decent.

Tried that as well, and probably depends on the quality of your electrical infrastructure, but the speeds I got with it was very disappointing. Internet/online gaming was fine, but transfer speeds was sooooo slow. Maybe some of the newer ones is better though. I had the D-Link one.

ok will look into these options... thanks Hiro Nemesis. went to incredible corruption over the weekend as they were having and xbox ps game sale and saw they had some range extenders on sale as part of their open box sale. they had a WNCE3001 netgear on sale (which isnt a range extender but does almost the same thing) was so tempted to buy it cause it was R800

hmm... it even has saints stamp of approval

grabbing it now

Oh yay gotta love SARS

They have about R2500 unallocated funds from our company sitting in their bank account, whilst claiming that we owe them money.

Between them and my bookkeeper I'm feeling depressed. Got an account for work they did last year between March and June. About R1600 for which they forgot to invoice me. Fair enough, they did do the work, but it does not leave me with a lot of confidence in their book keeping ability if their own books are kept in this way. And then SARS which is on my case for PAYE and UIF that I have paid, and sent them proof of, but they have now sent me a 3rd "reminder".

Edit : Sorry Blaaislaai, quoted you wrong, was meant for Wyvern *facepalm*

Nemises - its basically same story for us, we paid uif and paye but for some reason 5 months in 2012 they didnt allocate all the funds correctly. Now since then that money has been sitting in their bank account and we can't get a tax clearance thanks to that. It will take them another month just to just sort it out
