I'm under correction, but I believe only the Wired and the wireless with the bundled USB receiver has the "Microsoft Windows" certified logo on the box.

Thanks for the pointers on the controllers. You guys answered all the questions I've had except one: Can I buy any XBox 360 controller or must it say "for Windows" or "for PC" on the packaging?

If it's wired, either will work, if you go for wireless you'll need the PC one that comes with the receiver.

Thanks. I want to go for wired if only to cut down on having to recharge or change batteries every few days (whatever the xbox controllers use). I see there are still some wireds available priced between R430 and R450 bucks. Wireless aren't much more expensive @ about R470 to R520.

Try for wired if you can. My first wireless one had a few driver issues.

The wireless one uses normal AA batteries and I already have a set of 2AA batteries in the charger for my Keyboard, mouse, camera etc so adding 2 more batteries to the rotation wasn't that bad.

Yeah I've actually heard of some games that didn't work with the wireless one at all, for some reason. Very weird.

only 2 games i know of that had issues for me was dead rising 2 (only workaround was xpadder if i remember correctly) and rainbow six vegas 2 (which was an easy fix with an ini file hack)

That as well. Plus you never have to buy batteries.

play and charge or be cheap like me and use ur cybershot batteries (yes 1.2v batts work perfectly with the wireless one)

I see kalahari has a wired model (with a 12 day delivery time) for R381

The word "Microsoft" does seem suspiciously absent from that page, though...

shouldnt matter most of the time the bombay specials are actually on par quality wise

PS - If you like Mass Effect, it's an absolute treat with a XBOX 360 controller on the PC

I bought my wireless 360 controller from Matrix Computer Warehouse last year. It came with ME 2 and Dragon Age: Origins.

Also, my packaging is red. I think the XBox packaging is green. I believe that's how they distinguish between the types for PC and 360. Although, I had bought myself one from a discount store (in the green packaging - wired), didn't last too long.

I do tend to fall over my cable a lot.
