What's annoying its organising to have something picked up and people just don't pitch and dissapear...

Fortunately, I never had this situation. If it was a potential buyer - it was sold.

I sold an item (to the buyer) via the use of Gumtree.
Another item to an old college friend, last year.

Ya, there's lots of people trying to scam people selling stuff online, whatever you do, don't give anyone the stuff until you have cash in your hand, or the money is reflecting in your bank account. People will make a fake proof of payment and ask you to give them the stuff so long.
