As for it being original, well what did you expect? It's a FPS. It's not like anyone will re-invent that in a hurry. Hell, even BF3 won't be original. Don't ge me wrong, I'm extremely amped for it, but how much of originality is left in any FPS? As for HF, I'll be getting mine on Sunday, as I won't be home till then, but I'll still get it. I mean, what else are you going to play for MP until September?
I personally am looking more for a wow factor than originality. I have given up on originality in FPS games. Homefront does not wow me in any way.Quote:

iGame has been part of the Trial setup and testing of a few local servers.
We will be hosting a number of public servers and can confirm that we will be able to accomodate the majority of local players
After reading a few reviews it sounds like this will be another game that had loads of potential but doesn't amount to much.

So what if it's not revolutionary? So what if it is not the best new thing since sliced bread? No one has yet said it's kak or buggy or anything, so to me that is already a major plus! So the SP isn't 17 hours. So the MP isn't as creative as some would like. So what? At least it would seem as if they have managed to at least complete the fucking game and not release it with a million bugs and flaws. But, those might yet appear once it goes live officially and many more play online.
At the end of the day, it's only R350 and 5-10 hrs of SP gameplay depending on your ability and probably at least a month or two of MP, makes this a worthwhile investment. It will also make the time to ... go by quicker!
How long did people say the Mafia II campaign was because it took me about 15 hours. :p
Just saying, I'm sure I'll take longer than 4 hours.

If they work for the publusher, they are part of the publisher. If DICE makes a buggy game, it the fault of all the other deveolpers under EA just as much as it is EA itself. So don't come with that crap of the difference between the pub and dev, I'm not listening.

I have heard something which is a little concerning, it seems that many people have performance related issues when playing it. People with 5870's etc have said that they get around 40FPS on maxed settings. So I doubt my little PC is going to be able to handle this...

Xero, apparently if you pre-ordered off Steam and installed already, all you need do is make copy of homefront.exe and rename it to whatever.exe and voila! You can play!
Other than the duration of the SP campaign, games seems to be liked, especially the MP. Not really hearing any major negatives re MP other than the normal COD fanbois spouting crap about how it tries to be COD but fails.
I'm worried about that Six said about the game running poorly.. eish. Not good.

Xero, as for the FPS issue, that is very odd, as the game is based on the very old unreal 3 engine I think it is. So 30FPS makes no sense. Buddy has a Nvidia 560 and he is getting 160 odd FPS and his laatie with a nvidia 9500gt is getting 60 odd.

Though the multiplayer maps vary in size, I found that the smaller maps provided Homefront’s fiercest firefights, especially once drones come into play. My favorite map is set in a suburban cul-de-sac, where I found refuge from the rain of rocket drone fire and assault choppers by sprinting into garages and ducking behind cars. Those nooks are also great places to deploy my own drones while remaining hidden.
I found myself really enjoying Homefront’s multiplayer for its polished mechanics and chaos on the battlefield. It’s too bad that same ferocity don’t manifest in the single-player campaign.

Haha, you know, even if I do change the .exe as you said Densweep, I still couldn't play it:p I am only 14% done in terms of the download. Still waiting for the WebAfrica okes to get it pushed our side. Unfortunately I don't see that happening before the release in fourteen hours. So, I will prolly just download it using my normal cap.
The FPS story is a bit dodgy, why would such high end cards like the 5870 not be able to handle this thing? But if you say someone with a 9500GT can play it, then I'm sure my little 5770 can. Maybe they optimized their code or something.
The score isn't bad, but not what I exactly figured. But I guess time will tell...
Download it off international servers? way quicker I find. Unless you are doing the freezone thing?
As for the FPS thing, I dunno. I reckon it's a matter of playing with your settings. It's a old engine. Today's cards really shouldn't struggle.
