Where can I buy an original PS3 power cable? As mine is faulty?

What is the type of cable I need?

I'm pretty sure it's a standard cable, but i'm not to certain about the exact specs.

Standard "Figure 8" 2-prong power cable.

Its a normal Kettle Plug. You should be able to get it anywhere, even Spar sells it.
