Yeah I have no prob with supporting it, just don't want to have a bad experience which puts me off completely.
Just wondering how it works - do I only get to play online with people in the same region? how big is the community? and how's the lag? :)
By the sound of it, you haven't connected to LIVE previously yet. Make the jump you won't be disapointed, unless you really want to buy arcade games (then just create a UK/US account). Online gaming is where its all at :) There are loads of local guys and gals playing every night, just make sure you add a few local peeps as friends and you'll be on your way.
Lag depends on game and host's connection. Games like Bad Company 2 and Halo you can play international without problems and games like Gears and BLOPS you'll want to join games with a local host with a decent line.
What games you planning on playing? Feel free to add me, and then you can check my friends list and add from there.
Also on SA Live, but I'm pretty new to the Xbox scene, so as a result I don't have any friends on my list as of yet.
Still need to really test MP gaming on Xbox Live yet.
Whats wrong with buying arcade games in SA? expensive? or the small selection?
Cool, yeah i'm actually a PC gamer but since i got an xbox i thought i might as well use it for a change of scenery haha. In terms of multiplayer I'm mostly into FPS like COD mw2. never tried BC2. What do you guys recommend?
Also, where would be the cheapest option for the xbox live membership? I see most retail stores going for around 500 for 12 months.. is there a better option?
Sure, i'll add you! whats your acc name?
Edit: btw, i signed up for the silver acc to try things out, but now I cant link my offline profile to my windows live ID. any way around this?
The Arcade games problem is that the selection for SA members is MUCH smaller then UK/US, prices are the same. There is also no Indie games available on SA LIVE.
There are loads of guys playing CoD and Battlefield BC. Some good FPS's comming out this year, might want to look into that, Crysis 2 and Homefront are releasing soon and Battlefield 3 near the end of the year. Personally I play BC2, I enjoy chatting to my squad and working as a team.
For the cheapest subs and points buy UK subs and points (they work on SA accounts, only the 4200 UK MS points don't work). I buy mine at www.evopoints.co.za, the redeem codes are instantly displayed on the screen after the transaction. It's a lot cheaper then buying SA points and subs.
My gamertag is the same as my forum name and its in my sig ;)
Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge regarding Windows live ID linking, maybe someone else can help you in regards to this.
I've been playing quiet a bit of BC2 online lately and it works perfectly. Dont play much else online, tried bulletstorm and that was terrible, but to be honest the online multiplayer seemsed a little crap.
If you make the change to an SA account you can buy a gold account subscription from btgames.
Oh and my xbox live name is Gener4lGrievous if anyone wants to add me.
http://bfbc2.statsverse.com/ Sepiroth, its a pretty cool site for checking out your stats in BC2. I find the in game one doesn't always work, but that could be my connection.
