MWEB holds gamers "hostage"

MWeb has failed in negotiations with telkom and internet solutions.
They have bought exclusive rights to host COD Black-ops servers in south africa and in the same breath denied connections to the other ISP's in south africa.
In short any connections to and from mweb is routed through servers in London.
making all traffic to mweb international!
Forcing anyone who has bought call of duty black ops to open a mweb account just so that they can play the game.

In other words just throw your R700 you would have paid for the game in the toilet (at least you save your petrol you would have used to go by the game from a store).

Surely there has to be something protecting us from this sort of forced bussiness.
Surely the "exclusive rights" should be removed from mweb.
What ever happened to equal opertunities.
I would love to know what the SAIX and IS gaming teams opinions are about this!!

Old news dude. I'm, on a Web Africa uncapped account routed through IS and I peer fire with Siax, Mweb and Wage, but I get 300 pings on all games when playing with a telcom guy.

Mweb is peering with IS. And telkom didn't wan't to negotiate.

Telkom is like the only people that dont peer with MWEB

they should have made this public knowledge or at least put warnings on the game.
I have paid my money for the license to play now i'm screwed.
Should we really have to phone every ISP before we decide to by a game so that we can play.
isn't it enogh that we pay astronomical prices for games in this country.

1. Its just Telkom, you shouldn't be using them. (Not debatable)
2. Mweb can stop hosting Bops, that doesn't mean anyone else will get to host them.
3. Gameservers chose Mweb's datacenter to host their servers in the same way I choose which datacenter I want to host my website. They met a set of requirements and were picked.

they are not I ran tests last night with an IS account and spoke to the support team at mweb this morning

Dude I can play blops fine with 50 ping on my Axxess IS uncapped Shaped account.

I got a test account from datapro that is hosted with IS and the ping were 450+

The game is made internationally, why would they know or even care about our issues here?

I'm sure the peering effect was discussed on the forum.
