How could it be "baught" and "registered legaly with steam" if you didn't buy it though steam?

Well, I did some digging. Seems that these sort of sites do some shady deals to obtain retail CD keys from regions with the lowest prices, typically places in Asia. They then sell on the CD key and do who knows what with the physical media. Steam has been known to ban or not authorise these keys. It's also not guaranteed it will work.
The disclaimer on their site is rather telling: http://cdkeyshere.com/call-of-duty-b...ps-cd-key.html
Web of Trust doesn't think too highly of the site either. I'd be loathe to put my credit card details through such a website...Quote:
Important Notice: Steam put a region restriction on some Russian cd keys. Because of this, a Russian ip required to activate the key. If you don't have a VPN service, we can activate your key for you. After activation we will send your cd key photo as a proof. Please put your steam id and password as a note while making your order. We sold so many COD MW2 keys in 10 months and never had any ban or suspense problem. But we can't give you a guarantee for this in the future, because we can't know what Steam will do. If you don't want to take a risk, please do not buy this product or use a second steam account to protect your main account.
Sorry you're struggling with the connectivity atomixx, you aren't the only person to have drama with Black Ops. Good luck.
pfft, way too risky

Indeed.
You went and bought dodgy products off of a dodgy site, because you're too damn sideways in your messed-up little mind to properly support the developer.
Most likely you will suffer a terrible ping forever.
I hope you do.
Next we will see you on the forum anyway, moaning and crying like a spanked little girl about being banned for hacking; Only for it to come out later that you paid yet another dodgy site for a dodgy hack.
I suppose thats just how zeff rolls, huh?
bwahahahahhaahahahahahahhaa... what hole did that dude crawl out of roflmao :p
ISP's eventually came to an agreement, except for the fact that latency every now and again isnt the best, but hell it's certainly improved since when things first took off. :)
Nah dude, ever heard the saying "goedkoop koop is duur koop?"
I feel no sympathy for someone who is, um, naive enough to buy anything from from Russia, let alone a CD key for a game. The key might be a real COD key, but that doesn't mean it is legal. Where do you think they got those keys? Do you really believe that they were obtained legally from a recognised vendor? Really, honestly believe that?
I realise this is off topic, but seeing as how we have established that you are wrong in your accusations regarding the peering issue, I now feel the need to go on about your buying habits. You are probably the kind of guy who buys a TV or cell phone second hand, despite the previous owners' blood still being visible on it. And don't tell me it is any different, because I'd wager those keys are just as stolen. But hey, you keep living in your little naive, secluded little world where the Easter Bunny exists and Father Christmas lives in the North Pole with his Elves. Maybe one day your mommy and daddy will find the time to explain these things to you.
The First COD:BO CD I tried to use said that "this key is already registered to another steam account" you can imagine how pissed off I was. I went back to musica and asked for a replacement. The one cashier didn't understand why but another one understood about keys and I got a replacement case with a key that was fresh.
Now somebody had already used that first key I tried without paying for the game.
Steam Guard was made for that very reason. No matter how much you tell people not to give out their login details they still do.
firstly
this is a public forum not a spelling contest, baught bought you knew exactly what i was saying.
secondly
Seeing as you want to attack me on a person level.I don't suppose you want me to get into your illegal activities distributing copywrite HD Tv shows (would you like me to get specific) Mr torrent surfer living in boneschans street. And you want to attack my ethics for buying a game from another country. You should ask the your wife to give you less hassels at home so that you do not make your name ass in public.
ever heard of the saying "don't throw stones if you live in a glass house"
thirdly
You obviously have a lot more experience with buy stolen goods than i do.
fourthly
A product key has f-all to do with connection speeds/peering/routing and so forth.
fithly
I have raised your concerns with steam about the legality of the cdkey and will post their reply when I get it.
Gee atomixx, you are really going about making friends the wrong way ;)
I was not attacking you per se. I was making a point of the fact that people buy a CD key only off the internet thinking it is legit. You or anyone else can say what you like, there is no way that is a legitimate business enterprise.
As for my downloading and sharing of TV shows, yeah, I never said I didn't. Maybe my post is a bit hypocritical as a result, but I still think that buying stolen goods is worse than sharing some torrents.
As for being a dick in the past, I must confess, I don't remember and maybe you could remind me? If needs be, I would gladly apologise, if I was in the wrong. But as someone who also got terribly worked up over comments on forums, take a little advice, relax a tad there. People make dicky comments here because they can and they think no one will find them or figure out who they are. I don't hind behind the anonymity the internet provides. The fact that my account is linked to my FB also makes figuring out who I am pretty simple. You obviously know me from the WUG, being a member yourself. PS, what have you downloaded recently?
After reading your comments a few times now, I still fail to see where, how or why my wife has anything to do with me making an ass of myself? I manage to do that quite comfortably by myself. I would also appreciate you not bringing my wife into this.
And regarding your first comment, you are dead right about it being a public forum, but spelling/grammar is important, despite what our current education system may think. Again, I'm saying I'm without fault on this front, but I do try and correct my mistakes. I just feel it says a lot about a person when they make typo's etc. Yes, english may or may not be your first language, but use the spell checker man! Hell I do. A lot! :D
Anyways, relax and come have a cold beer seeing as you know where I live! I'm sure I'll realise you aren't a idiot who buys Russian crap and I'm fairly certain you will learn I'm not as big a dick as you think I am.
Someone say beer? :wtf:
lol.. nice one dude.
I think we should maybe have that beer at the wug braai first.
The wife comment was just a low blow like the one about me buying stolen goods with the prev owners blood on it.(not cool man(on both sides)).sorry!!
FYI the spell checker you use does not check grammar.
I'm still waiting for the reply from steam but it has only been about 6 hours since I asked them.
other that that i think this thread is petty much done.
old new is old...
Solution BFBC2 then BF3...
here is the reply from steam.
ok so they are not an authorised reseller but they do not say that the key is invalid.
the keys could come off a retail copy .. who knows ?

Hello,
A staff member has replied to your question:
Hello, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. This is not an authorized re-seller of Steam CD Keys. Please do not complete any purchases with this vendor. Only CD Keys included with retail copies or purchased from authorized retailers will be allowed. Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Nobody cares.
Scum is scum, no matter how many "but" you throw into a statement.
At least he had the savvy to query it with Steam.
I think let this basically serve as a lesson to everyone who might read this. If it seems to be good to be true, it probably is!
