Watching gundam. I am still undecided weather I like it or not.
lol ... which one. There are so many it's impossible to keep track of which one's which, and where they fit in the timeline.
Well ... the hardcore fans could probably tell you - I ain't one of them. There's a new one this season, as if the franchise needed more deadweight.
Maybe because Full Metal Panic actually worked the characters into the plot properly - gave them characteristics and played with the relationships between them, and added some pretty decent comedy to the mix. Each and every one of FMP's characters stuck with me to some degree.
Gundam on the other hand, is mostly about the Gundams, they use cookie cutter templates for the characters and their relationships, to the point where each series is basically a repeat of the previous, only with new characters. At least that was my experience with Gundam Seed and Gundam 00. Which prompted me not to actually watch anything else.
Is there any anima fans living in the north of JHB who fell like burning me some hardcore anima, I have got nothing and I love anima, I dont mind paying :)
Look, I randomly decided Imma watch some anime some time ago. After being recommended a few series in this thread, I decided to give Death Note ago. It was pretty awesome. Not the best thing I've ever seen, but good enough to lure me into trying out another anime series. So once more, after reading about it here, I tried Code Geass. The first season/R1 was okay. I wasn't too impressed and put off watching the second/R2 for a few weeks. When I did, though, I was hooked. And now, today, I watched the final episode. And I cried. Nothing too dramatic. I just sat there, watching the episode, feeling that pang in my throat grow gradually more potent, until eventually, when all was revealed, and Nunally started crying. It got too much. I sat there silently sobbing for close to a minute. Goddammit.
I may have mentioned somewhere that I considered the second season better than the first :p
If sad moments aren't your thing, I recommend staying away from Clannad, Clannad ~After Story~, Kanon, Air, Angel Beats! - hell, anything with KEY's name attached to it.
On the other hand, I totally recommend watching them :D
Also, another series which isn't everyone's cup of tea, but moved me quite a bit, was the Aria franchise. It's an easy-going slice-of-life type anime that doesn't really go anywhere; it's simply one girl's exploration of a copy of Venice where she's training to become an Undine. It's her experiences along the way that made this series for me - soundtrack is also epic.
If you do get the urge to check it out, start off with Aria the Animation, followed by Aria the Natural, followed by Aria the Origination. Those are the 3 seasons - there's an OVA that hopped in between the 2nd and 3rd seasons as well.
No guy, I'm not getting anywhere near those. Not soon anyway. Still trying to get over Code Geass.
not really hardcore but enjoy watching it often enough in free time.
been keeping tabs on Bleach, but have lately gone over to reading the manga as the fillers are killing me.
will be getting the Naruto Shippuudens when it has finally ended as I quite enjoyed the 1st.
started Fairy Tail a while back but haven't watched again since I am letting them build up.
I made the mistake of spamming to watch the 1st 60 or so in 1 shot :D
sadly my current list is almost just fan-service :) with the odd exception here and there.
Just watched Black lagoon for the fourth time. Love revy to bits :D
Right, I think I've recovered enough now from Code Geass.
Next for me? This Clannad business? Anything else?
Have only watched Death Note and Code Geass, and I loved the mind-games aspect of it.
Hmmm ... well ... if mind-games are your thing then ... let's see:
There's Umineko no Naku Koro ni - which is a spin-off of the Higurashi series, and it's all about the protagonist outwitting an opponent in a psychological game where everyone's lives are at risk. It's light on action, and falls more into the psychological thriller genre. You can actually watch Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and it's sequel Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai as well - similar concept, although I would advise you to pay close attention because missing something means losing track of what's going on. In the case of Higurashi I would recommend watching both seasons back to back if you can manage it.
Next up would be Paranoia Agent - I haven't gotten around to watching it yet, but apparently it's quite good as well.
Hell Girl (Jigoku Shoujo) may also be worth watching, but the pacing is quite slow in terms of plot development, which I've found in the past puts people off a bit. There are 3 seasons, with the final season arguably being the better of them.
Thanks, I'll check these out and choose one :)
I have just started watching Ben to. Looks good and has some fighting in it over ben to boxes. something out from the normal anime
Fate Zero must be one of the greatest anime ever released :D The animations and fight scenes are off the chain! Why do they only come once a week :(
And as far as sad endings go Fate Stay Night Ending =
Finished Angel Beats!
Didn't like it. Yeah, sure, lots of drama in the latter half. But it was just completely forgettable.
Steins;gate up next.
I kinda enjoyed Angel Beats actually, although I'll agree it wasn't quite as memorable as some other KEY productions. On the other hand, I haven't played the game, so I'm not sure how true to the story it stays, although the pattern is similar to other series - but in the end it felt a little rushed.
It may have done better as a 24-episode series in the end (the first version of Kanon had this problem as well - which was why I enjoyed the remake so much).
Agreed. It provides some mindless fun for the first 9 or so episodes, then it steps it up a notch and things become more serious but unfortunately I don't think three episodes were enough to incorporate everything it tried to be. It did make me laugh a few times though :)
Angel Beats was very fun :)
Still havent laughed as much as I did when I watched the scene where they were writing tests and needed "Distractions" :D
Lol the funniest bit for me, by far, was where Angel/Otonashi set Yui up to get her guitar. The way Angel/Kanade acted when "bumped" into by Otonashi was hilarious.
Think I still need to watch the last 3 or 4 eps, but this series was very fun. I kinda stop when things got a bit serious and you get the feeling the show is ending
Staple I see you were recommended Elfen Lied as well...
just be warned it is a tad bit violent :)
but man that one had a nice discussion going in it's days.
Time for a shameless plug :p
The SA Blog Awards are in the public voting phase at the moment - and since my blog is entered this year I figured I might as well push a couple of hints around :p If you visit my site at all (my sig links to it) there's a badge you can use to vote.
I'm not specifically asking for votes here - obviously only vote if you feel the blog deserves it in any way, but any support will be appreciated :)
Does anyone know where I can download srt files for steins;gate?
^ tried and tried :<
Havent watched Anime in ages! Whats good at the moment?
Anyone know when the Naruto fillers end?
Fate/Zero is the prequel to Fate/Stay Night :) So probably not necessary, although you'll have some good context to go on.
I still need to get the complete Fate stay night since I only have like 10 episodes...
I've never been to any of the local anime conventions, which one(s) would you say is the best.
WAtching full metal panic. Great show. Really has put me in good spirits. the main female characters are hot!
I'm hopping between Seirei no Moribito, Pumpkin Scissors and Toradora!. With an episode of ToLove Ru Trouble OVA from time to time for some comic relief ;)
