I was never very adept with pen and paper to begin with so I got the tablet on impulse and started screwing around. I'm still useless at drawing from scratch, but I copy/paste bits and parts of other pictures together to frankenstein me a rough outline of what I need and work from there. :p
If you got a tablet, a good start might be to scan in any pictures you have on paper and trace them wth the tablet, just to get the hang of the device.
Before I got the tablet I tried creating human models in 3D, but it didn't work out too well, I'm considering reviving that partially and creating some posed models that I can use to work at with the pen again.
Eagle anus. Brown husks. Gentle sea-flower pen-ea.
Ha, I always struggled with scale.
I had that problem early on too. I figured out a technque. Try measuring things out. In 3ds max I use the default genric units and scale it x10. 1 meter would than be 10 units. After that you just need the measurment of whatever you're trying to model.
If you are looking at only using 3D models to provide the material you need to work with on the tablet, try out Poser, its fast and gives you exact human scale
Yeah, I got poser, but it doesn't give me the more cartoonish/anime scales that I'm after sometimes. I.E. Slightly larger heards or das Über muscular like Gears of War or Star/Warcraft
Got milk.?
