It seems the GTX570 usually comes in just under the GTX580. But I cannot see the 6970 crossfire on these charts for comparison sakes. Both cards have really good selling points.
Arrgg... I can't make up my mind!

And he is right
sometimes paying the price is really worth it, when i brought the 6870 i though dam this is expensive but once i had the card upa nd running i realised i got my moneys worth, i too am upgrading and so im not taking "lower" spec products for eg im taking gigabyte over Asus or MSI because although they may be abit more i know that i get what i pay for with gigabyte....

BRING IT :D
Stay away from the GTX 570.
Either go 560 TI or 580. The gains over the 560 is minimal vs the cost difference.
But get the 2gb version of the 560 TI. Afaik Palit is the only one available in the 2gb version.
XeroS1x, in what part of SA do you stay?
I got some contacts to get pretty good prices, but I'm in CT.
About a month ago my buddy upgraded and I had to help him.
He is a Gigabyte fanboy so he got a Gigabyte P67 LGA1155 mobo, Gigabyte GTX570 Windforce (It has 3 bloody fans. INSANE)
He also got some Corsair Dominator DDR1600 2x4GB with the Intel Core i7 2600k and I tell you that pc is running like a dream.
The games are so crisp and clear. I just wish I could have that kind of budget for a pc.
I stay in Cape Town too, I have all of my components ready to go, just need to confirm that the graphics card is the best move. My upgrade is similar. I have been waiting a while to upgrade and have managed to pool enough cash to cover this. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, it's not cheap.
erm, the 570 is faster, quite a lot so. and is actually the next step towards the gtx580. it has more memory bw and much more headroom to overclock whereas the Ti is already overclocked.
It also has more shader cores.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU11/207 has a very nice price-fps graph. I just wish they had a average over multigames. Which i like about tom's hardware. But the important (DX11 games) it is a lot nicer, for not as much as you think extra.
Edit: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/330?vs=306 <---- a complete comparison.
Trust me stick with Nvidia though. I wont touch another ATI card, sorry to say. For the price i paid for my GTX580 i could have almost bought one of the lower end 6990's and did not. Does not matter how good the 6990 is it still does not support physx or 3D vision surround(i stand corrected on the 3d). Go Green Team!!
The 570 is also cheaper than the 6970. and eyefinity is normally better than 3d vision...
@kuga Nvidia does not have the 6 screen eyefinity but they do have the 3 screen version with 3D support. It is 3D Vision Surround.
Dude, I always thought the PhysX stuff was kinda redundant. Until I saw it on Batman Arkham Asylum. Just wow.

is see what physx does!
pretty cool!
but HOW MANY games take advantage of physx?

Hey guys I am looking to upgrade my pc... I have been a Intel Owner my whole life and I just have the feeling I need to go over to AMD to to see what its like.. lol I think I should be able to put together about 6k for my upgrade... there are a couple things I am going to keep like my HHD's and my graphics card. I will put up my current rig up and then put up what I am thinking of buying..
CURRENT RIG
Intel D946GZIS MOB
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.1
4 Gig DDR2
XFX Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT - (keeping)
450W power supply (no-name brand)
MY NEW RIG - Nothing set in stone I am looking to get my upgrade towards the end of the year with my bonus
Asus Crosshair 4 (iV) Formula - Republic of Game
Amd socket AM3 Phenom2 x6 - Hexa/6-Core 1055T
OCZ DDR3 PC3-1333 MHz /Gold Edition / Triple Channel Kit / 6GB
(Power supply to go here)
I am looking for an upgrade to keep me going for the next couple years as my current rig has lasted 5 years. I upgraded to my 9600 GT about 2-3 years ago so it should keep up for a little while longer..
Any help would be appreciated and any questions please ask.
Atm you could get a new board, but you will be getting in just before a major update to the AMD line up.
You will also notice that the hexa-core is not much faster than quad-core AMDs as they are not optimised in most games.
You will be able to use the new chips on AM3 boards, but my prediction is that they won't be maximised on such.
Go get your own thread:D (JK)
At your budget you should evenly distribute the items, going for a high-end motherboard is not really something you need. I would suggest something like the following:
- Motherboard - Asus P8P67 PRO Rev.3 - Link
- CPU - Core i5 2500k Sandy Bridge - Link
- RAM - Corsair XMS3 2x4GB 1600Mhz - Link
- PSU - Corsair GS600 600w - Link
For the above, you would pay - R5900
you can check my thread here: http://mygaming.co.za/forum/showthre...lds-his-new-PC
no need to spend a huge amount of money to have a really good rig, its all about smart choices really
Thanks very much for the input guys I really appreciate it!
That is why I said I will be getting my upgrade towards the end of the year when I get my bonus. Surely the AMD update should have happened by then.
Games that I play range from FP Shooters, Racing games, MMO and RPG's so I do play a little of everything..
The reason I am not too worried about the graphics card ATM is that a friend of mine just upgraded his pc to an i7 with a decent MoB and Ram and he has the same card as me and his machine runs 100% (to me that is) Ja sure with the new games coming out I might not be able to run everything on AAx32 but the games still look good and run smoothly...
DX 11 is not available on those cards though. That is my main problem, even if they run smoothly, it will not look nice on dx11 games.
