48÷2(9+3) = ?

Lo, I thought the answer was 288 but then when I went back in time to what I learned I'm sure the answer is 2...
My scientific calculator says it's 2 as well...

It's 2.
Lets simplify.
Lets say (9+3) = x
Then we have
48
---
2x
Then we substitute x back in
48
--- = 2
24
Easy ... Go back to school 288's.

In the third line, he multiplies the left hand side with 4 throughout, but the right hand side with 5. Can't do that. Universe asplode.

Then we have
48
-- x
2
Then we substitute x back in
24*12= 288

Easy ... Go back to school 2's.

o but he doesn't...he just simplifies the second line:

saying 16 = 4(squared)
36 = 4*9
25 = 5(squared)
45 = 9*5
