If that is the case then this is Nintendos 5th Gen console, as it's been around since 1983.
NES
SuperNES
N64
GameCube
Wii
And it's Sony's 3rd but Microsofts 2nd?

We need to work out a formula:)
I'll attempt:
Nintendo's 5th
Sony's 3rd
Microsofts 2nd
Therefore 5+3+2 =10
So if the 3 Current consoles combined "gen" = 10,
then 10 / 3 = current consoles average "gen"
 that means its the current gens 3.33rd gen:cool:
Okay so you almost win ;-)
What have we here?
Metal Gear only on PS thus PS wins. Do the math :)
like i said previously in this thread, both consoles are equally good, the exclusives to each console makes each one a worthwhile investment.
Seems like FFXIII for the 360 is pretty gimped:

PS3 does not have Any Mass Effect. that to me is a fail!

@Solidus : Well I mean the 360 version is the port. It's slightly expected that it will not look as good as the original version.
Same thing applies to all multiplatform titles. Which is why most PS3 mutliplats do not look as good as the 360 counterparts. (going by the concept most multiplats are developed with the 360 as the primary platform and them ported to the PS3)
The internal rendering resolution of games on the 360 is pretty much a moot point considering that ANA, the scaler chip, is pretty damn brilliant at handling the scaling to native resolution.
I honestly, desperately wish that the PS3 had a scaler chip.
Heh, the scaler chip is usually the bit that fries first in Xboxes, though. :P
X360 does not have Heavy Rain. This debate can end now ... :p
Turns out that the original shots were taken from a bad video source:

So I guess everyone who says MGS 4 is a movie has played the game?
I like long vids in games. As long as they are entertaining, and the gameplay between them is decent.
Some JRPGs an have 1h:30m + long videos! But I do not mind personally.
MSG end sequence was like a movie extremely long and had a fight sequence in between that. But the game was good, i enjoyed and i still don't think MGS4 is for everyone.
As far as GOWIII goes i doubt there would be alot a cinamtics, unless they intend to pro long the game the previous GOW never had many video sequences cause you running around half the time and the its usualy in-game cinematics which don't interupt game play as they are part of it.
You guys need to see the new Gow 3 video on gametrailers.com. OMG the game is looking brilliant and its all in game actual footage that they show. I think the ps3 is definitely starting to kick some xbox ass but i still love my xbox.
this argument was very easily solved for me: get both.
Sorry to jump in randomly, but after saving for a while I bought an Xbox 360. I has always had a Ps3, and somewhat despised the 360. But after I bought it, I haven't even touched the PS3 since. It's just feels inferior to me in a way :P Just my opinion :)
Never said it was THE solid truth, just what often happens when people get something new (not just consoles).
Anyways both are great, like I have said before. The PS3 is finally playing catchup nicely.
Turns out that the game does look a bit worse on the 360:

As a quick note for owners of multiple platforms, I strongly recommend getting this game on the PS3. The 360 version seems to run well enough, but it's noticeably less sharp and is spread across three discs.
i have had both and i'm sorry to say for all the ps3 flaws i njoy it way more than my experiance on the xbox
maybe it was the pricey live and the free psn community that made the difference
just my 5c
I love my XBOX for three reasons.
1. The local XBOX community just makes gaming so much more fun.
2. I got it for my anniversary, so it has sentimental value to me.
3. I love the XBOX exclusive games like GOW, Forza etc.
I have played on the PS3, it was great. Yet I still find myself going back to my XBOX and hooking up with my buddies to do some online.
Well I now own both, bought myself a 250 GB slim on Saturday.
Honestly my Xbox is still my first love, there is just something about the xbox that rocks.
Don' get me wrong though, the PS3 is very awesome. I really like both.
Kratos returns to PS next week! On your knees Xbox!
360 used to rule with exclusives, but that is changing. Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, and later The last Guardian... just to name a few. As a serious gamer, you cannot not have a ps3. Just Heavy Rain is already worth getting a ps3 for.
Yeah PS3 started off SO SO badly! But now it is getting pretty crazy.
Initially I told everyone to rather get a 360 over a PS3 for many reasons, I am not singing a very different tune, (not to say the 360 is a bad buy, it is not).
Meh. God of War is overrated in my opinion
It didn't do for me what it seems to have done for many other people.
I'd rather play DMC or Primal. Soul Reaver even.
But let's get back to arguing over the specifications of our consoles and
not what games we prefer playing. ;)
Well back on topic:
Blu-Ray > Poopy 360 DVD drive!
Seriously, even games like FFXIII had to have its sound compressed and such to deal with the limitations of DVD. Now perhaps if Microsoft actually consider Blu-Ray, which I read they are NOT implicitly, things will be smoother. DVD is slowly becoming a limitation.
I'm enjoying best of both worlds...I think they both have plus sides. Exclusive games etc. but it is just too damn costly to own both :(
