That's one place where Microsoft is strides ahead of anyone else. I can create one C# XNA Solution to cover Windows, XBox 360 and Windows Phone 7. .NET programming is a dream these days.
Sony should seriously look and see what they will do with the next PS because developing on MS machines will just become easier and easier.

And you know what Sony can do in the meantime? They can hire a proper PR person.
Maybe that is why all games are crap on the PS3 compared to the Xbox. And you have to download eleventy million GB's of updates for every game you buy on the PS3. :rolleyes:
Yeah, but at the end of the day, the PS3 first party titles are clearly showing what good programmers can get a lot out of that "pain in the ass".
Xbox does not have one equivalent to God of War 3 or Uncharted 2, techniclay speaking.
I loved Darksiders and as such I can't wait for Vigil games next game, but stop moaning, no one else is anymore. If they are having trouble I read here that Naughty Dog are more than willing to help out.
That said, Sony could do well to make developing easier on their next console, it just means devs can spend less time figuring the thing out and start making amazing games from the get go.
Very true. The easier they make it for developers to work on their consoles, the more creative their games will be. Instead of battling with issues, their time can be spent on making other things in the game better. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the manpower working on the project. If they are freed up, then they can focus on other things.
Though I'd much rather have a masterpiece that a company fussed and swore to make than a few half rate games we seem to be getting these days :p Doesnt matter if it's PS3 or Xbox as long as there was a challenge for the programmers to go outside the box and not fiddle around inside it :o
I won't say they shot "themselves in the foot", this is exactly the same story as with the PS2. A lot of devs complained that the PS2 was incredibly difficult to program for and yet near the end of its life cycle a few beauties came out. Okami, God of War just to name a few.
And I agree with a previous post that the first party devs are showing what is capable if you put the work into it.
why complain so late after a game has been released, yes in the beginning mst developers complained that the PS3 was difficult to program for but now a few years later not much complain cause they got the basis set, and if you look at the First party developers you can see that the PS# has much more power than they give it credit for... And in my opinion much like the PS2 we will only see the best at the end of the PS3 life cycle if not a little earlier.
