They have openly said it's to stop piracy

i dont mind connecting to an auth server, much like steam does, but for the love of my pooor bandwidth, please make the games use the fastest route to the other PCs [AKA, ethernet]

Very stupid move! They may end up losing more money this way than they would have via piracy. Plus, there's ways and means of getting around Battle.net anyway.

I'm still worried that at some point they'll start charging for Battle.net. Or even maybe start charging for certain "features". I was never a big fan of StarCraft but I loved playing Diablo 2 on a LAN. It's disappointing that StarCraft 2 and Diablo III won't support LAN play.

there is allmost such a FPS, you run around with a paintball gun. can't remember the name of it, but it was horrid.
